Did a mix for Bassbear on London's Radar Radio! Show aired last week. My DJ partner The Lothario did the first hour. Mine mix is the 2nd hour! We were told it was going to air August 11th so we didn't promote it at all lol. But here ya go! Enjoy!

band I had never heard of... they sound like they're trying to be Bowie and T Rex in particular pretty hard..

^I kind of enjoy discovering these "didn't quite make it and long forgotten" bands...rarely do I say "Oh man they totally should have made it.." but that doesn't mean that I don't get something out of listening to them...

I will admit its all kind of weird...

anyways, the lead singer of this band is Michael Des Barres.. I guess his sister is probably the best known groupie ever...Pamela Des Barres...

Nigel Harrison plays bass on this album .. went on to be in Blondie I think...

Gil Scott-Heron - The Revolution Will Not be Televised (LP- a compilation of early Flying Dutchman stuff)

I wish I'd seen him live.. he recorded a ton of stuff in the area be it Shaw (where I think he lived), Silver Spring, even Merrifield (apparently there was a studio out there)

anyways, his 70s stuff has aged really well

Maria Bethania- Alibi

I tend to dislike the schmaltzy late 70s Brazilian stuff but there are a few keepers like this one....

maybe I am old.  maybe, they are old.  maybe my tastes, have changed.  trying out, the new dinosaur jr album, and find it lack luster . . . and kind of the same old what I would expect but even mellowed down more, with rarer highlight flashbacks to jesus, god and j.  and good lord, take me away from these lou disruptions.

lots of joe zawinul solo stuff pre and post miles/weather report, although really enjoy his stuff with cannonball, so joyful and sometimes trippy.

Keith Hudson- Pick a Dub

on some tracks you have Carlton and Aston Barrett, Augustus Pablo, and Earl Chinna Smith.... that is a heck of a line up... not sure what Keith Hudson actually does...got to read the liner notes...
