]I listened to that about a week ago for the first time in two years and was stunned/embarassed/something to realize I still knew every word.
Yep.
Easter brunch discussion of bands that will define the 2000's, led to someone reading the Rolling Stone best 100 albums of the naughts, where Smackie, by virtue of being 5-7 years older than the rest of the crowd has to explain the naughts from the Rolling Stone perspective (my favorite being that Conor Oberst was in Bright Eyes after the "never heard of them" comment). Then, somewhere in the 70's The Streets come up and I said "oh, great album" and of course they've never heard it, so we put it on and yes, I was quite embarrassed to still know all the words.
"Fit" was first, mixed reviews, so then I said play "Dry your Eyes" totally forgetting that we're out in Oakland because the host is going through a divorce. The party came to a screeching halt, but you know secretly everybody went home and listened to the rest of that song.
I'll take my bow now.
