but for a forum so focused on being broke, saving money . . .
Aw, shit, the Space Freely leaked into the water supply. Could fuck this whole thing up.

We got two people focused on being broke, frugal and perhaps in some cases arguably stingy: Space and Sidehatch

That’s it

hey now...how'd I get dragged into this
Can I do what I like even though you don’t do it?
The endless appeals to conformity are really weak sauce
umm absolutely not sir, but thanks for asking
I think it's more about ribbing you than actually caring if you stream

Personally, even though I am (cashflo)broke, I bought Vinyl and Bandcamp from a bunch of artists in the last few months
I've bought more Vinyl and Bandcamp purchases than the whole decade before that
The vinyl rarely gets used and the bandcamp never, but feel like I'm getting a few coins in the pockets of the artists
much more than just streaming and definitely more than if I bought it used

Well it’s only a sore spot because you guys make it out like I am a sucker for doing what I like and consider the right thing!

It’s like you want to listen to music in poor quality, screw the musicians (of course you can’t admit it), no artwork, no details regarding the recordings, no context...and make it out like the sucker is the one that doesn’t!

For ten years I bought vinyl while everyone told me I was crazy and why the fuck would I do that? They just couldn’t get it

I like marching to the beat of my own drummer... you all want to do what everyone else is doing fine but don’t come down on me and think yourself smarter or better

The # of shows and bands I've supported seeing live because of Spotify outweighs any $$$ they would've made off me if I purchased their cd (which I never would've anyway).

And me saying I'm better than you is definitely putting words in my mouth. I'm only better than sidebudget.

Also, I'd be willing to bet my sound system sounds as good streaming music than a CD.

It does support Neil...he gets some money from the sale.. a lot more than from someone streaming. I can’t support the artist while shopping around for the best price? As long as I am paying I think I am doing my part..

I have no idea if his own store - apparently ran by his record company although unclear- gives him a bigger cut or not. Maybe he has people run it for him.. I would guess it does... but that doesn’t make me a bad person for buying it somewhere else..I am still buying it... factor in shipping and my guess is buying it from Neil would mean $25

But the issue of supporting artists is one of many I have with streaming some of which I listed.. it’s not all about that.. did you read what I wrote?

Streaming is not something I enjoy.. that’s the main issue...

My guess is you guys are trying to wind me up.. hope you are enjoying it!

My plan is to get my zombie-bot army to stream Neil's songs 1 billion times...that will surely get him enough to buy one of those Hill Farmstead 6 packs

This convo is making me think of that screed Scorsese just wrote about Fellini and the state of modern cinema in Harpers.

BS..you just want to drop that reference  in!

Modern music is fine.. I have the choice to buy a cd.. or stream the music

I prefer to buy it
