Los Fabulosos Cadillacs - Vasos Vacios
A mish mash of hits and five re-recorded early songs... mainly designed to break them in Latin America and it worked.. I just like the original more ska ( they came up imitating two tone) earlier stuff than the more punked up and Latino stuff... but it’s still pretty killer..anyways plenty of the original stuff in the second half of the album..it’s 17 songs so.. Vasos Vacios with Celia Cruz is unbelievable..I think a human being is lucky to write ONE such great song...a fully formed classic.. a nice cover of the Clash’s Revolution Rock.. the Clash were a big influence in Argentina
I saw them once in the late 90s at Club Five in DuPont.... my friend Dan who was bartending there got me the set list (unprompted as I wasn’t collecting them then) which I treasure... seeing them at such a small place was an unbelievable privilege... Matador , featured in Grosse Point Blank, is the one song Americans might know if any... what a barn burner.. it was one of only two previously unreleased songs on the album
