I'm really enjoying it.  Most of it sounds nothing like the Primitives jams. I really like the Ostrich, but it shows his range as a songwriter even back when he was a kid. I know a lot of it was purposefully aping existing hits, but to have the ability to write teen idol ballads and girl group ditties and soul numbers at such an early age is crazy.

One of my old favorites. You know, they did really well in England...then I think they realized that they could probably continue down that trajectory. They're really old punk rockers at heart, and though they could write pop tunes really, really well, they just decided to go for a more abrasive/challenging sound instead of going into polished stuff that would sell records, and I think they were OK with that. I got to know Les Carter pretty well. They achieved more than I think they ever imagined, but they wanted to remain normal/regular people. They never forgot who they were.

The last Primal Scream album I loved entirely

Same. Great tour. Had a blast with them at the Back Bar. Many shots of Jamesons were had.

Because I follow someone who is doing the album cover art for his recent albums, Jim Bob returned to releasing solo albums  with new material in 2020.  According to the Wikipedia he has released 14 albums and written several books since Carter USM.  Been touring the UK as well...
