African-Americans do as well, just not on this board.

This African-American gentleman who was riding the bus with me and talking on his cell yesterday, kept saying nigger this and nigger that.

You seem to allude to your Jewish-ness a lot on this bboard & elsewhere. Does it mean that you are a religiously devout person...a true believer in Yeshua, or Shiva, or whatever..?  Are you spending lots of time praying daily?

You know, you don't hear the rest of saying things like, "My parents are typical Methodists"?

 ...Just wondering? [/b]
No, I'm not SUPER-JEWISH at all...in fact, I'm kind of slightly agnostic.  But I'm still a Jew.  And yes, Jews do love to talk about other Jews and them being Jews and etc.  Plus, if you had my sense of humor, and my group of friends, you'd tell constant sarcastic Jewish jokes to top it off.  That's just the way I am.  I've got a couple of overtly Christian friends...it just seems to me in today's society, though, that anyone who isn't overt about their religion is Christian by default.

I get the feeling that being Jewish is more of a culture than a religion.

In a way yes, and in a way no.  That's kind of the beauty in Judaism.  I'm fairly agnostic at this point in my life, however, regardless of your beliefs in God or not; the Jewish community still welcomes you.  You still participate in the holidays and are part of the community.  I still choose to get confirmed.  You can be Jewish and Buddhist, and they even coincide quite nicely.  The people that tend to speak of the culture aspects of Judaism are always the ones that actually participate in them--which most Jews tend not to.  So, when you hear about it, it's for a reason...

people identify as "jewish" on mulitple levels ...

nationalist: zionist, supporter of the israeli state, a feeling that all jews belong to the same common nation (different from a state, of course)

ethnic: food, culture, etc ... many american jews are eastern european, have yiddish backgrounds

religious:  uh, the bible and all that stuff

but the key is that you can self-identify as "jewish" without being religious at all

I'm not sure what Zod has to do with this.  You like posting pictures though, so have at it.

Yes, I cut an international slice, and when she moves back to DC later on this year, I'll cut a domestic one.

Sorry Dupek, all you're going to hear about my escapades in Australia is what I've previously mentioned.
