Am I the only person in the world who would prefer one high-quality electronic device per function than two or three crappy combo devices?
Take camera phones: I have one because the phone was on sale, and cool, and my favorite design, although I had just made fun of people who have camera phones. But it takes sucky pictures with no exposure, and if I want to get decent photos, I have to buy a real camera anyway. I'd rather not pay the extra $50 now, and save it up to buy a "real" camera/phone/mp3 player later.
Maybe I'm just bitter because I was just looking up cable internet and was shocked at the $60/month pricetag. They try to sweeten the deal with "free webpages! seven emails!" etc., etc., but I'd rather do away with all that and just pay $40 instead.
Same problem when I was looking for PDAs. I wanted WiFi. I wanted space. I did NOT want an MP3 player. I already have an iPod. Why pay another $50 for a sucky feature?
Bottom line: no more stupid add-ons. Just lower the prices on everything.
