I would assume that a Grog & Tankard gig is better than no gig at all, right?

If it doesn't go well you can always just go across the street to Good Guys

thanks Rhett Midler. That helps a lot. A gig is a gig, but it can't be nice to play in such a hole. The bartenders aren't anything to shake a stick at.

I guess I'm curious to know why the place is such a dive when it could be a valued club on that strip o' Wisconsin.

It's a shame it's such a shit-hole...I bet if they took the pool table out the sorority brothers would stop going in and a better clientelle would start frequenting the place.

I agree though, a gig is a gig if you're trying to get exposure.

It's about time you realized that I'm always right.

I don't think bands gain any new fans by playing there. Everybody in the crowd is usually a friend of one of the bands playing there.

I used to live over there...it's just not a very splashy "strip" in general...most people out and about there are G-town students and polo/docker clad corporate goons patronizing the strip clubs...blech!

Not splashy?!?!  I am posting from that neighborhood, that is where I work, and we are the splashiest, ok i guess not.  I don't think very highly of the Grog and Tankard but a gig is a gig.

You may not win over a bunch of new fans at G&T, but there is a lot to be said for just getting out and getting some gigs under your belt.
