quick question for you american football fans, this week there was the NCAAF final between the top two ranked teams. I don't recall the coverage and attention these games received when I was in the US, but from abroad I can see that it doesn't receive as much attention as the NCAA basketball finals. I am not talking about coverage in the foreign press, but from sites such as yahoo, nyt, espn... is it that the NCAAB is far more popular or is it the playoffs format?

The playoff format and the hype surrounding it make a large part of the difference.  March Madness and it's ease for gambling make even the uninterested, interested.  Smackette won't watch a single College hoops game all year, but she will fill out a bracket and watch any game where she has a team still alive.

But I think ABC did a pretty good job this year with the BCS bowls and their ratings were way up.  Good matchups and good games.  The Final games are closer then you think: 34.66 million viewers for the Rose Bowl, 37.5 million for the NCAA Hoops final last year.  It's hard to compare the March Madness viewing to all the Bowl games because the early round hoops games feature prime teams, compared to the weak matchups of early bowl games.  Add the holiday time business and the ratings won't be close. But the 4 BCS games draw a comparable audience to the entire NCAA Tournament, which is surprising to most (both draw between 100 and 110 Million viewers).

Growing up with the Bucs in the 80s when they SUCKED and their colors were frickin' red and orange, I can accept any loss.

nope, think you got the wrong photo, i can't believe a camera was around to catch one of the skins' 10 positive offensive plays

that game came down completely to bounces and luck ... all the professional columnists and prognosticators are claiming it was the redskins defense, but they were pretty much picked apart in the second half, the bucs defense (on the other hand) put together one of the best performances i've ever seen ... the turning points were just lucky bounces (brown's, cooley's, and marcus washington's fumbles being recovered by skins players, the missed call on arrington's fumble after his INT, etc, etc) ... pretty shitty game overall

I don't think it was luck when Sheperd dropped the game tying touchdown, or when Simms overthrew him on the next play.  The Bucs just didn't execute, and when they didn't, the Skins capitalized.

When the Skins didn't execute, the Bucs failed to capitalize.

Accept your loss like a man, especially after you started the trash talking.

Not for skins fans.  Pretty great if you ask me.  I'd hardly call 10 points scored "picking them apart".  Sure the skins offense didn't do squat, but the D made the big plays when they needed to and your guys didn't.  End of story.
