I'm fairly certain equal outrage would be produced by the community over the irresponsibility of driving under the influence. So, if I know of a long-time board member who has been convicted of a DUI and post about it, complete with a link to the state's online judicial database, will a ban be forthcoming?

The fact that something is legal does not make it automatically acceptable...   It must not be very fulfilling to make one's life's work such a vapid pursuit.

however, as for a ban... I would say a ban is reasonable if he is profiting off this board -- in other words, if his access to this board somehow facilitates his scalping business.  Otherwise it's probably not worth the bother.

Whether or not you believe that I pay taxes is up to you, man.  I'm not going to defend myself unncessarily.  I'll be happy to let you speak to my tax attourney and you two can battle to the death.  I run a business full time, and I pay the appropriate taxes as a citizen of this country.  I'm not saying anything more about it, because me paying taxes is not what this thread is about.

I'm not going to post a receipt of my donation on here, either.  I'm not out to prove anything to anybody; I am a light-hearted individual that cares about this music scene and the people involved in it, and wanted to do something to contribute to the Robbins family because I believe in the case.  I'm sorry that the way I'm going about doing it isn't satisfactory enough for some of you.  But the bottom line is; unless your donation meets strict ebay guidelines, which me either doing a face-to-face donation at the show or sending a payment via paypal does not meet, you cannot, under any circumstances, advertise that something is for charity in the listing.  Believe me, I've done it in the past; they'll shut you down in 12 hours or less.

As I've said time and time again, what I do for a living is my decision.  It is legal in 90% of the country, and see as a service to most people, and an act of scum to others.  I will never convince either party to jump over the line, so I'm not going to try; most of you are well-set in your mindframes, and there's no point trying to convince otherwise; especially when I don't really care that much.  At the end of the day, whether or not you agree with what I do for a living does not affect my sleeping patterns.  The clients that we have as a business love the service we provide, and come back time and time again.  And that's really all that matters.
Okay. I'll buy a pair from your auction and when we meet at will call I will give you a check payable to James Robbins for the amount of the sale.

 Deal?

ok how about this... for now i'm going to back down in order to hopefully defuse the situation, talk of banning anyone is a sensitive issue and needs to be done for the right reasons.  however, i think that direct attacks on other members in any form is unacceptable.

Then I shall likewise withhold my nasty DUI information, in hopes of returning the board to some semblance of normalcy.

 Three cheers for detente!

since you want to talk about ebay's policies i'll use this example:

  Ebay link.

you had this auction up for 1-3 tickets with "buy as many as you need" with a buy it now @ $50.  there was 1 left when the auction ended so you sold 2?

 ebay's policy:
"Sellers listing event tickets for resale from an eBay site other than www.ebay.com for one of the regulated locations listed above, may not exceed the pricing limitations set forth above, regardless of the location of the seller or the buyer. Sellers must also clearly include the following in their listing:

The location where the event will occur, and
If it is a Regulated Location, the face value of the ticket, the number of tickets, and the following text:
Due to laws regulating ticket sales in this area, the seller in this auction will not accept any bids or offers to buy above the total face value $__ printed on the ticket(s), plus $ permitted in some states. Do not bid more than this amount. Bids that exceed this amount are void and will be cancelled by the seller. The seller will end the listing if, and when, this price is met."

 on your auction page:
"North Carolina residents: North Carolina state law limits the resale ticket price for this event location, so your maximum bid cannot exceed $63.00. See eBay's ticket policy."

from ebay's information regarding north carolina:
 "Connecticut, North Carolina
No more than face value plus $3."

face value was $10 on these tickets. i bought one at the box office.  where does $10 + $3 = $63?

just because you manage to find ways to justify things to yourself, doesn't mean that you are not a disgusting individual.  it's amazing the things we can convince ourselves if we repeat them over and over again.

you fucking disgust me and i will love to hear about the day you get what you deserve.

i'm not discussing anything regarding anything except the dismemberment show, because that's what this is about.  i cannot even believe this was brought up here; it was totally unnecessary and unreasonable, but that's besides the point as well.

if you feel the need to ban me, then do it, kosmo.  but it will be for personal satisfaction and nothing more.  i have never earned nor deserve such an action and doing so because you or other members don't believe i'm donating something to a sick child simply blows my mind.

but if you feel the need to ban me, then do it.  if that's what helps makes you kids sleep better at night, then do it.  i have done nothing but attempt to comply with ebay policy and raise extra money for a charity I was interested in without it coming out of my own pocket; but, like most things around here, it seems that even that cannot be done without somebody bitching about it.

people's personal livse should not affect their status on a message board if said personal life does not affect said message board.  i have never caused a problem here and i never will.  i visit this message board because i enjoy the discussion and i enjoy some of the members; nothing further.  but kosmo, if you feel the need to make this a huge congressional issue, and talk to eddie and talk to the rest of the staff, then please, be  my guest.  i'll just make your job easier and save you the trial by not posting at all.  its no skin off my back whatsoever and every bitter member who apparenly doesn't believe in a free economy can sleep better at night.

only loss will be you'll have to read somebody else's diary to gossip while you all sit in your cubicle during the day.  what a pity.

the only thing i'm going to say on this matter at this point, is that why haven't your responded to GGW's direct request regarding these tickets?

I've still seen nothing to disprove the original headline, "Chokeychicken profits off of sick child."  That show got huge publicity because it was a benefit, which surely drove up scalped ticket prices...  if he were doing this out of charitable instinct, surely he would take GGW up on his offer?

I read that all of the benefits from original sales of the tickets are benefitting the charity. Did he not pay the price for the tickets, and thus the money is going to the charity?

What he is doing is benefitting off of the poor losers who didn't score tickets and are so desperate that they're willing to pay a premium for tickets.

If the person who started the thread gave a shit about the sick child, they'd spend their energy trying to raise money for the child rather than on being pissy about not getting concert tickets.
