Wow, they're playing with Peter Bruntnell...excellent British alt-country guy who is friends with the Son Volt guys.

Looks like Iota and the Cat are already booked up for that weekend, wonder if the Pernice Brothers will miss DC this time around.

No offense to anyone, but I really dont think Mankie will like the Pernice brothers that much. I bet he would prefer Turin Brakes.

Radiohead? I really dont think so. More like space vs suede. I dont hear any radiohead in there at all. But then Americans say all British acts sound like radiohead. Even the ones conceived before radiohead.

Peter Bruntnell doesn't sound like Radiohead. Neither does Grand Drive.

i'm listening to turin breaks again and it reminds me 90's britpop lazily strummed acoustic guitars with some electronic elements.(radiohead, coldplay, etc).  it also has a bit of 70's glam influence as well.

i listen to the new pernice brothers and it reminds me of the smiths with the shimmering guitars and clever wordplay.

mankie may like one, both or neither... i'm just thinking he may gleam on to the pernice brothers first.

I'm not that keen on Radiohead so don't give much hope of a rip-off band.

I'm not big on rip-off bands as you know..Interfuckingpol for example.

that sounds like neither radiohead or coldplay, more like suede and space. Do you think coldplay sound like radiohead?

Pernice brothers sound really American to me. I didnt pick up on any great wordplay or lyrical content either. Do you have an example?

Pernice Brother's are sounding more and more interesting...thanks to Kosmo's intelligent description. "reminding me of" or "influenced by" are fine..it's "blatant rip-off" that gets my goat. I'm also a lyrics person as you've probably figured out by the bands and performers I admire. I read the lyrics before I play the cd of most albums I buy.
