I prefer the turin brakes. Mankie and I like similar British music. I dont hear anything in the pernice brothers. Maybe thats because I have not listened enough. I couldnt find any Pernice brothers lyrics. Can you give an example?

I have listened to the Pernice Brothers. I ripped Bobs CD. I di'nt hear any interesting lyrics or wordplay. Let me ask for the third time, for either of you to recite some?

I am guessing they are not as a good as "a vicar in a tutu, he's not strange, he just wants to live his life this way"

I have looked all over for Joe Pernice's lyrics posted on the web...and there are none. I do have three Pernice Brothers albums, a solo album, and three albums by his former band, Scud Mountain Boys. I can attest to his lyrics being excellent, but couldn't recite any off the top of my head.

I am listening again now.

Its really bland sounding American radio rock. I am not just saying that to wind you up. I just reckon Mankie will think the same. Its not even vaguely like the smiths thats for sure. Perhaps that comparison being so far off base is clouding my judgement.

Still I really dont think Mankie will like it. It sounds much more like the beach boys to me. It sounds very American and Mankie doesnt like anything American.

If you ask me to go somewhere else again. I will.

Listen to "One Foot in the Grave" and tell me that doesn't sound like a Morrissey solo song.

"Water Ban" is probably the most Smiths-like, though it's not one you can listen to in the samples.

I see more New Order overall than the Smiths, specifically Peyton Pinkerton's guitar work.

you know i think that the smiths magically sprang up out of the cabbage patch and heard no music whats so every.  and created a totally unique sound.

I see what you are getting at, but I dont really agree. A lot of Morrisseys solo work is much worse than it.

So from that, would you say that the smiths or any morrissey song sounds like any New York dolls song?

If no, what is your point?
