I think Blur's Popscene was intended only as a single, but it's on the US version of Modern Life.
 As for Suede, my first thought was Stay Together, but I'm pretty sure that's on the Singles comp. So I don't can't think of it.
 I don't really give a shit about Elastica, so no idea there.

Darn it!  I forgot about "Singles."  That comp was never released over here.  You're right.  "Stay Together" was the one I was thinking of.

I DO know what song Oasis's first number ("Some Might Say") knocked off.  "Back for Good" by Take That.  I know that because Noel Gallagher made some comment about Gary Barlow being a good songwriter and how "the kids" bought a great song one week and then bought another great one ("Some Might Say") the next.  That was the only minor hit Take That ever had in America.  "Back for Good."
 
 I'm just guessing it's probably some Michael Jackson or Robson & Jerome song.
 
 Here's another one for you:  Even though they both seem like they last three days, which single is longer "Stay Together" by Suede or "All Around The World" by Oasis?

 Between those two songs you mentioned, my guess would be that All Around the World is longer, but I'm kind of pulling that out of my aaaaass.

 P.S.  Both are longer than "American Pie" but "Stay Together" is 8:29 and "All Around The World" clocks in at 9:20.  Ah, the smell of cocaine...
 
 P.P.S.  Not really a trivia question, but since most people consider "Stay Together" the song that broke up Anderson and Butler, what is ironic/coincidental about the first single Bernard Butler released and the first Suede track that Bernard Butler didn't play on (after he quit.)

The band was Proud Mary and I'm proud to own it, Mary. It really is pretty generic.
 
 As for the Butler/Suede irony, that I can't tell you. I remember Butler joined up with McAlmont to snag a #1 single with 'Yes' but I don't know the first non-Butler Suede track. Is it called 'No'?

 Not sure what the link is between the terms you dropped. I know Luke Haines has a song called England vs. America, but haven't heard of the others. So is the connection that they're all Haines songs?
