I went to V fest last year, from what i remember by the time The Killers hit the stage i made my way back, i skipped out on GNarls to get food and use the potty and walk around, THe Killers seemed to start the crowd packing. Getting back up front was a bitch, a bunch of angry drunk 7 foot tall guys like "SAY EXCUSE ME FUCKHEAD" and i was like whatever. And i was about 50 or 60 feet from the stage when The Who went on and it was like torture, everyone knew their set was ending and was shoving to get up front for the Peppers. I couldn't breathe and was hot as hell so i hopped the rail. I wanted to see the Peppers but was wondering "How often can i see The Flaming Lips!?", so i hit the second stage and made it right up front with no problems.

I'm going this year regardless of the line-up, but if they add Daft Punk....oh...its fucking on.

I was not happy with the VIP experience either last year...actually felt bad for people

Left it in the hands of others, and didn't realize what it had become until it was too late

My apologies to those who trusted us

I am going to fix it

Excellent news Seth... My brother is bummed at the thought of seeing The Police in a festival experience but maybe some VIP treatment will encourage him to see the show.  All I need for a good summer festival experience is shade to sit in occasionally and lots of water.

If this festival is $190 before service charges, it will be completely ludicrous.

I know it's already been said, but I gotta echo -- it sucks that the Fest is same wknd as Lolla.  I'll be going to Lolla, with the hopes that perhaps the same bands will play both festivals.... but with the prayer too that that setup won't work well enough so that Seth will want to coincide w/ Lolla in future years.

I thought all along that The Police, after playing Fri at MSG and then Giants on Sunday, wouldn't need/want to throw in a Saturday date in Balto.  But what do I know...

Regarding the Lolla weekened conflict, Frankly, who cares?! Better than Baltimore and Washington have a terrific concert weekend than not, regardless of when it is and what else it might conflict with.

And for most people in the area, going to Pimlico to see the V Fest is much more reasonable than flying or driving to Chicago, paying for a hotel room and for all of the other requirements of an out-of-town stay.

Great job Seth of addressing the local concert needs and not worrying about what is happening a thousand miles away.

Did anyone use the free shuttle service last year from the light rail station to pimlico?  How often did it run and did they accomodate anyone who got out real late from the concert or was there a cutoff time?  I hope they have that again this year.  Thanks.

We took the metro down to the Rogers Avenue Station, where there was supposed to be a free shuttle bus, but it never showed. We waited over a half an hour before an MTA bus that said "Pimlico" on the front showed up, but it wasn't free (not that I cared at that point).  Of course, we did show up pretty early so that may have had something to do with it.

We didn't take the metro back... we caught a ride b/c we didn't want to deal w/the crowds at the station, so I can't comment on the post-concert service.  I'm curious to hear as well...  it's a great way to get down there (esp if if the shuttle actually shows up this time).

I caught the metro down to Rogers Ave., and there was no "free shuttle" there at all.  There was a MTA bus that said Pimlico and I asked them what was up.  They said that some other shuttle type thing had been there, but the driver didn't seem to know what was going on, and left after a few minutes, never to return.  This was quite early, as I got to Pimlico about an hour before Kasabian went on.  I left during the middle of the Scissor Sisters set, (which  sucked, gf was sick at the time) and asked about 4 cops that were sitting around and a couple of V fest employees where the free shuttles were.  Never found one.  Ended up sharing a cab w/ a couple of Brits that were in the same predicament.  Took the cab to the metro and then home.  One of the policemen actually said that the metro was walking distance but that in that neighborhood we'd "never make it through alive".

we took the light rail from Camden Yards to (i forget which light rail stop, cold spring lane, i think) where there was a shuttle that took us right to the show.  we left during the lips' last song, walked back to where we'd gotten off the bus that morning.  Busses were there, we got on, and they took us right to the Light Rail stop again.  no problems, no worries, no confusion.

we left pimlico at 10 minutes of 10pm and were home at 10:45pm.

not sure how the Metro worked out, but the light rail was easy breezy, so i strongly suggest that route this year.  as with anything though, i am sure Seth is working on better transportation this year.

I really hope that they can get the Happy Mondays to play! that would be so awesome. I basically want dribs and drabs of various bands from coachella. I am so looking forward to V-fest though. I mean beastie boys, the police and smashing pumpkins has me already planning to save up everything i make for the next few months haha.
