In enormous UGH news:

311 announced their summer tour and has no DC/Baltimore date but has an 8/5 "TBA on 4/27" date that would fit VFest geographically with the rest of their tour.

 Say it ain't so.

I heard KEXP playing 311 the other morning. First time I had ever heard them, they were pretty putrid.

If there's any band one could book to turn VFest into a topless, fratboy, pot-smoking HFStival-esque event, it's 311.

no way! OAR tops 311 in that respect by a MILE!!!  and being from the area, OAR would attract so many more fratboys than 311 would anyway.  i think Dave Matthews might top 311 too.

The thought of topless fratboys makes my skin crawl.

One useful tidbit this may be telling us is that the lineup will be unveilied on 4/27. Other than that, Sunday on the mainstage is gonna be awful, I'll be running far, far away from 311 and Velvet Revolver.

311 didn't used to be horrible, I liked them in the club scene.

Vfest to me only has 2 bands I'd want to see (SP/Police) and definitely would not pay to see any of the others as repeats.  :(

Its a festival with tons of bands so I have a hard time imagining that there won't be bands that I dislike.  The Police, Beastie Boys, and Bad Brains have me going no matter what.  I can't stand 311, but now that we've weathered the Silverchair rumors, I'm ready to accept anyone.  I don't think I've ever gone to a festival that was a dream lineup from start to finish.  And V Fest is big, so 311 AND Silverchair AND OAR can all go on together for an hour-and-a-half super fratty-cake jam session and I'm sure I can find other things to do.  There are two stages, right?  And beer.  And a dance tent.  And of course, the killer batting cages and video game hut and freakshow thing off to the side.

Sweet.

Hey Seth, what about a newly reformed Buffalo Tom for an early afternoon slot?

Apparently 311 "looks good" for this. They sent out a fanclub email that says "DC/MD - hold off on your emails, you are not forgotten" and has 8/5 as TBA.

Just a heads up, On Tap is doing a bus trip from DC and/or Arlington this year and as of right now, we are booking hotels in the package. It'll be like 10 busfuls of people, a party atmosphere and probably way more affordable than if you drove, booked a hotel, and bought a ticket yourself. Keep checking www.ontaponline.com for details (We have a My Chemical Romance Bus Trip 4/27 that should be awesome)!
