Feel the love
« on: October 21, 2003, 11:47:00 am »
So who's on board to see the show that sold out the Royal Albert hall and got stellar reviews?   Love with Arthur Lee are hitting the much smaller and intimate Birchmere bandstand tonight complete with the extra string and horn players to perform the classic "Forever Changes" record.   Your gonna regret missing this one

I am listening right now, and it makes me really want to go to the show.

I think love will overcome apathy and lethargy.

I will be there! Is it definitely the band stand, then? The web site says it's in the Music Hall. What time are you planning on getting there?

Well they play at 7.30 and the music hall opens at 6.....

I am still not entirely certain if we are going, we dont have tickets either.....And the missus is being indecisive.

but I was hoping kosmo woul meet us at the nearest  metro at around 6.15 or 6.30....

I'm going.  Me and my friends are planning an early arrival so we can get a good spot.  We're probably gonna eat chow at the club too and since it's a bandstand show there will be few tables, at least that's what I hear.  Doors are at 6:00 I think.

to get to the birchmere, take the metro to braddock road. its less than 2.5 miles from that metro stop to the club. there is a bus you can take that goes right by the club. go to www.wmata.com to map it out. likewise, its about a $7 cab ride with tip from the metro station to the birchmere. crystal city is furthur away, actually.

isn't Braddock past the club if you are coming from the North, it is pretty close to crystal city as well, you just go south on route 1, take a right on south glebe, by the dealership Mankie use to work at, and then left on Mount Vernon Avenue, and as you go down Mount Vernon the birchmere is on your left

from the direction i'm coming from braddock road appears to make the most sense, either way for me going to the birchmere involves crossing either one of those bridges thus entering into traffic hell..  let us know soon because i'll need to leave 5ish.

possibly. i've just found it easier when i've gone solo to head to that station and transfer to the bus or nab a cab if i've just missed the bus. but you might be right, the birchmere might be between the two stops considering its proximity to glebe rd and that its about halfway up and down on mt vernon.

I am going to try to get there around 6-6:15. I can also pick up at the metro if you need it. I know that bus 10B stops at Braddock Road metro and passes by the Birchmere. It runs every 20 mins. or so.
