Was pretty good, interesting view of a band trying to get back on top.

This quote says pretty much all you need to know:

"Honestly, I wouldn't be standing here right now if it wasn't for them. I live in West Virginia and have purple hair. People stare at me and give me a hard time. Joel and Benj know what it's like to be a total outcast and a misfit. They made me proud to be different."

Sales have slumped at Hot Topic recently.  And the food court wiggers have moved on to Borders.

Ding ding ding.

As a reformed "outcast", I'm always amused when people make statements that imply that they were BORN with purple hair.

The actual interviews with the dudes in the band were pretty decent.  They don't come off as giant tools, just semi-tools.

Their fans are still ridiculous though.

I think that these rock'n'roll cliches are really something...twin brothers from dysfunctional background have tough upbringing, have dreams of stardom, stumble into massive success, then in the face of adversity struggle with hanging onto success after excess and debauchery. Give me a break. On the one hand, good for them for selling millions of records, hope that they enjoyed it. On the other hand, screw them for their mediocrity and poseur punk image bullshit. The minute you start dating the Hillary Duffs of the world, you know that it's not about music, it's about being part of the entertainment industry. Glad that their fans enjoy consuming the musical equivalent of a Super-sized Big Mac meal. Bands like Good Charlotte just make the masses even more bloated and gassy.

Yes.  Interesting article.

I'm not gonna lie, I bought their first album when I was 10 years old and thought they were really cool and got all excited every time I heard them on HFS...it was a quality pop-punk record.  You know, that stuff is fun to dance to when you are young and don't know any better.  But their second album didn't do anything for me; it was pretty over-produced and slick sounding...too marketable.  Though maybe that was the point in my life when I realized that most pop-punk wasn't quality at all...

I definitely have respect for them and what they've been through but it always makes me wonder a little.  You know, that their problems were so readily...marketable in their albums and lyrics.  And I don't know how I would feel about someone capitalizing so much on something like that.  Seems a little funny to me.
It's great to write music about your life and turn a profit on that music but some of the other stuff...well...it just makes me wonder sometimes.

They are definitely going for a different image.  du Lac failed to mention the fact that the music "video" that went along one of their new songs features Cory Kennedy dancing and eating Indian food and it's kind of absolutely ridiculous...

But their brother Josh is a really great creative thinker and does well with shoots.  I think the fashion industry will have some nice things to come from that fella.

did these clowns ever think that the reason no one like them in high school was because they were in some crappy annoying band?

and besides, i worked on their street team in 1996 for a short bit, soon after i came to the US, and those guys were pretty pomous already and had a really nice van that they toted their gear around in.  the drummer had this very expensive drum set too  i remember.

they paid us pretty well to shell shows with flyers though.  better than any other band (which was never anything).

   tough upbringing my ass.

Yawn...

Seriously, why is everyone so bitter about this band?  Who gives a fuck?  It's music that's obviously not made for our collective target market (ok, maybe betty's, especially when they first broke), which makes all of the belly-aching seem super pathetic.  They always say that critics are just frustrated musicians; it seems the same is true for indie rock fans.

Besides, you all are kidding yourselves if you wouldn't be banging starlets (or stars as the case may be) if a little fame & fortune crossed your paths...

featuring LA scene girl who makes money by leeching off of others who are well connected and appearing on the cobrasnake.
 jack shit.
DON'T sit there talking about how adverse you are all the while you are sticking spoiled rich princesses in your music videos and dating Nicole Richie.
 i rest my case.

I'd at least be banging someone a bit more classy than Nichole Ritchie!
