Black out the windows.  It's party time!

Never seen Twilight Singers, but the last Whigs show at 930 is one of my all time favorite shows.

The Afghan Whigs are one of the best live acts I've ever seen.....this will be my first time to see Twilight Singers - I've been out of town every other time they've come to DC

I might have to go...that's my birthday.

The last Whigs show I saw was so so, but the one before that was classic..their first stop at 9:30 after 1965 I think.

When Greg is on, he's really on.

The last Singers show at the Black Cat was great albeit really really long.  Definitely got your money's worth.

I did a really fun interview with Dulli a couple years ago.  Happy to post a link if anyone is interested.

Last Twilight Singers show I saw was at Fletchers about 2 years ago.  I think the much maligned Damnwells opened, the Dulli took FOREVER to come out, but once he did it was great and he played for a long time, even covered Outkast's "Roses" among others.

If I wwasn't going to be out of town I would be at the 930.

Also, I know it's way early to be asking times for the show, but I'm trying to make another show while I can still get a ticket. The doors say 8 pm...(F/S doors are generally 9). Anyone know anything more -- same set times as usual?

Was listening to Denis Leary on the radio this morning pimping the upcoming season of his FX series,"Rescue Me".....and he made a point of saying how great the new Twilight Singers was and how great Dulli was also..and he also mentioned the Whigs and how he had been a fan for years...said it was some of the best stuff he's heard in a while.....Denis could be high, but I may have to beleive him...I know that the Whigs always put on a great show whenever I had a chance to catch them....I may go to this one....

A friend of mine says the new album is the best of all of 'em. I a little of the band's showcase at SXSW and the guitar is juicy and stops you in your tracks.
Same friend wrote me about the show this past weekend:  "Just saw Greg Dulli and company at The Southgate House Saturday night. It was the best I've seen him play. Apparently he's not using and drinking anymore and it showed. He sounded amazing, the band sounded amazing and his showmanship (which has always been top notch) was kicked up a bit. He even played a few Afghan Whigs tunes with their former bass player John Curley. Oh, and he always throws in crazy cover tunes, like say a version of "Crazy" by Gnarls Barkley and "Beth" by Kiss. Go see'em!"

Oh and Jeff Klein wasn't on the bill for that show, and After Hours (from Italy) he said were "interesting". Good or bad interesting, I do not know.

OT: Denis Leary and Rescue Me is cool - the soundtrack doesn't look too shabby either.
