The intewebs is really aghast over this news, huh?

Remember when Constellation bought Ballast Point and Lagunitas sold 50% of their ownership (despite the owner never claiming he would never sell out?). Well guess what - Sculpin and Victory at Sea are still excellent beers.

Meanwhile Lagunitas is still churning out hits like Born Again, Waldo, and High West-ified Imperial Coffee Stout... beers that are nationally distributed and easy to purchase (for a very affordable price point, I might add).

I don't know, I could really care less. In the end it's a larger footprint for a brewery that makes some great sours.

Penn Druid is making a rare tap take over in balston next week (w/ right proper and stone)

Join us on Wednesday, May 10th for a night of revelry with our friends from Stone, Right Proper and Pen Druid. On this evening, we?ll feature 15 drafts from the trio of breweries, including their brand-new collaboration beer, Soused.

Brewed at Right Proper - Brookland, Soused is made with juniper-infused water and a Nordic farmhouse yeast strain. Aggressively hopped with Mosaic and Comet, this IPA has huge notes of sticky orange, mango and dank juniper.

In addition to Soused, you don?t want to miss this rare opportunity to try 4 different beers from Pen Druid. Located in Sperryville, VA, Pen Druid?s wood fired, oak mashed, native yeast fermented ales are rarely served outside of their brewery.

Other standouts from the evening?s list include Right Proper White Bicycles, a rustic Witbier brewed with black limes and Mandarina Bavaria hops; and Stone Jindia Pale Ale, a Double IPA infused with ginger and juniper.

There is no admission fee for this event. All featured drafts will be priced individually by the glass and in 4 oz. pours.

I've been twice to Owen's Ordinary and it's been terrible to say the least both times. Funny enough, they had a couple of Cantillon kegs last week. I called this weekend to see if they were still on tap. The conversation went like this.

Yada: "Hi, I was wondering if you still have the Cantillon kegs on tap?"

Owen's: "Ummmm.... what is the name of the brewery?"

Yada: "Cantillon, you had two kegs on earlier this week for the Belgian event."

Owen's: "Ummm.... Hold on one second please.
2nd Owen's Employee: "Hi, can I help you?"

Yada: "DO YOU HAVE CANTILLON ON DRAFT"

2nd Owen's Employee: "Ummm... I don't think we have that beer on draft here"

Yada: "click"

Is Cantillon really that amazing? Or is it the fact that it's rare around these parts that make it amazing?

Recently, Sweetcell was kind enough to share a Cantillon or two with a group of people of people, as well as his own sours. And I have to say, the Cantillons weren't really any better than Sweetcell's homebrewed stuff to me.

Yes, that's a compliment to Sweetcell who brews some excellent beer, but I'm also saying sometimes I don't get the Cantillon fuss.

Still, I'll be grabbing some when I'm in Italy next month. Better value there.
