Where did the password come from?
-
this is bs
-
WTF?!
-
I'm pretty sure the code is supposed to come AFTER you purchase, so you can get the EP download. That still doesn't help me buying tickets.
-
fail.
-
I know, WTF. First V fest not this.
-
It's always fun to try to guess those.
Balloon?
hamsterball?
Jelly?
Yoshimi?
-
Tried the new album and all of the free song downloads too. Oh well...

I guessed EMBRYONIC and LIPS, but nope.
-
damnit. what the hell?
if anyone finds the code, PM pretty please!
-
Anyone tried calling Ticketmaster?
-
a friend of mine is on the phone... i'll update.
-
i'm confused - i thought this was the public onsale, not some password-protected presale. if/when someone gets the password, please share.
maybe TM is looking out for our best interests - preventing us from wasting money on a predictable lips show :)
edit: nope, i'm not crazy:
Onsale to General Public
Start: Fri, 07/10/09 10:00 AM EDT
maybe they don't want our money...
-
just called Merriweather, they're aware of the mistake and said Ticketmaster is trying to fix it. She said to either keep refreshing or call TM.
I'm trying to call TM with the number she gave me but I keep getting a busy tone.
-
Dammit!
-
password is thehex
-
jsut fixed it
try the sit enow
-
not for me.
-
Weird...I just refreshed and didn't see the password field. Got one floor.
not for me.
-
Refresh and the password box will go away. Just got GA floor.
-
still can't get it
-
WTF? Its not going away for me. I've tried it on 2 different browsers.
-
FLAMING (all caps) works. It didn't a minute ago.
-
wow, this is craptastic even by TM standards. we now have a new password to try - but they've taken away the password entry box... and the site is still demanding a password! brilliant!
on the phone you can't order from natinal sales, you have to use a maryland-only number - which is eternally busy.
i'll bet the scalpers have figured out how to buy all the good seats by now.
way to go, TM!
EDIT: FIXED!
-
"FLAMING" worked for me, got 4 GA floors ;D
-
I got ahold of them through that number, sweetcell. I've got 3 tix for GA floor.
I think by now anything will work on the password. My friend apparently typed "password" and got through. I tried FLAMING and it worked.
-
I am amazed how far back the pavilion appears to be sold already when there are still GA/pit tix - I was poking around out of curiosity after snagging a pair of pit.
-
thehex worked for me. If anyone is interested in not standing around all night, pick Main Pavillion instead of Best Available and you should be in the single letters this early. I got Center S.
Thanks for the heads up on the password gang. I was pulling my f-ing hair out over my coffee and cinnamon rolls.
-
I kind of wished I had gone for center seating actually, but I was in such a rush when the password box finally disappeared that I got floor and didn't want to release the tickets and go back.
-
i got Center Row R. i'm pissed that it took that long for TM to get this right. i'm certain that i would have had something in the first 3 rows had i gotten a clean shot at tickets, instead i'm 11th (if i remember the setup correctly - starts at G, no row I).
-
Bummed about the floor? What fun is a Flaming Lips show if you're not covered in confetti????

-
i really don't understand why anyone would rather be in the pavilion rather than GA floor
-
I like seating at shows nowadays...part of getting old. >:(

I'd rather have a seat as well. Friend just texted me; got CTR Row H. That's two rows behind GA. I'm happy.
-
i don't know...
i wasn't even considering going to this since i'll be going to ATP 09 but the opening acts are making it very tempting.
-
I'm old too.... I didn't say I was bummed exactly. It's not all that often that Merriweather is set up for GA floor, so that's cool. I wish last year's R.E.M. show and this year's Decemberists' concerts had been GA floor....
-
stardeath and white dwarfs will be at ATP as well.................

Don't forget to pay your service and convenience charges on the way out for the spectacular ticketmaster hospitality!

Did anyone get the download code for the EP with their order? Does it come later? Am I just staring right at it on the receipt?
-
What a craptastic job by Ticketmaster. I demand a recount.
-
GA tickets still available

There was a similar ep deal with the Smashing Pumpkins 20th tour if you bought tickets for both nights. No one got the EP until about 5 months after the tour ended...
-
Hold on. You've got to rethink this people. Look at the beauty of this!
First off, since no one had a password, I would venture to guess that none of those scalper programs worked. They too were at a loss. This opened the playing field for a much fairer shot at tickets for the regular fan, at least while the glitch delay was in effect and you checked this forum.
Step two: With the networking on this forum, it turned out to be a 9:30 Club insiders' first grabs sale. Don't know about the Lips board but I would bet that once you sleuths got down to business, you all had a better chance at getting tickets. Word probably then got to the band's board soon afterwards.
Of course, by now, the glitch has probably been fixed and/or the word is out across active cyberspace.
Good going, Seth! Pure genius! I like this new method. ;)

The code will come by email in a few days according to a post on the Lip's board.

i like your thinking, but i can't agree with it...
there are bound to be more, and more obsessive, people on a lips board than here. i'm sure they were working on this too.
second, we - and by we i mean folks buying tix online - didn't get a fair shot at tickets. by the time the website was fixed and we could order tix it was ~10:30. that's a half hour lead that folks on the phone and at retail outlets had over us. by the time i was able to pull tix, first 10 center rows were gone. not a biggie, 11th row is great, but we can't call that fair.
but yeah, having a cooperative of fans working together to crack the system is a neat idea :)

That's okay. You need a bit of that obsession to work this out. Also, who better to get in on this than the promoter's forum and the band's? Then you'll also have those cross pollenators which is okay. A little team work or friendly competition even.

Sure, there is some stress involved but, ultimately, it's what's called eustress, as opposed to distress. Like that of one competing in a game, sport, performance or some other rewarding activity. It keeps you on your toes and can be fun. A half hour delay in getting tickets isn't the same as a half hour delay in actually getting there. Consider it part of the payment for keeping out the scalping scum. Plus, keep in mind that it takes a lot longer to sell tickets via outlets and through phone orders as opposed to online sales. Sure, those people will get a shot too but consider the lag time that ultimately works in the true fans' favor. Again, a win for the forum sleuths and the real fans.

This can work; albeit, it would only have a short life span once everyone catches on.
-
Ok, so my friend missed out this morning. Does anyone have an extra GA floor ticket they could spare by any chance?
-

unless you're the white collar scum who, after being shunned from velvet lounge the previous evening, actually has to work for those 30 minutes

True, but I counter that with all of those who have to work in jobs that don't allow them the luxury of being a 'professional surfer'. Exactly why I detest ticket sales for in demand shows starting during the week at 10:00 AM. And no, some of us refuse to give our CC# to others or don't feel comfortable asking another to 'front' their ticket and pay later.
-
any idea on times for friday?
-
oh darn . . . i was hoping for more "white collar scum" conversation.
-
saw the recent setlists of the earlier shows in the west coast...
they have not changed their setlists! wow...good thing I didn't buy a ticket for this show...
-
bring your ponchos tonight!
-
I haven't been to MPP for awhile...is the 9:32 Club still there? Last time I was there for a show, it was either gone or closed. Just wondering....rain tonight...
-
need to bail on the show, selling my 11th row center tickets (http://www.930.com/forum/index.php?topic=19412). dammit :(

it's gonna rain anyway. plus the fact the lips only know how to play the same ten songs at shows now. must be taking cues from dinosaur. ;D
-
Great show. Fairly predictable set list, certainly. But at least rain held off.
-
amazing show. eits killed it as usual!
-
I went in tonight not super excited...rainy, didn't really like At War with the Mystics, etc. Super glad I stuck through it. I don't see how anyone can see a Flaming Lips show and not walk out with a huge smile on their face.
I hadn't seen them since Coachella where Wayne first (I think) walked out in the giant bubble, so the setlist and stage set-up was brand new to me. Glad to see they finally got the ball worked out...instead of the 40 minutes it took to set up at Coachella, it was a pretty seamless intro.
I've got to admit, even the Mystics songs sounded pretty good (except Veil of Stars...so boring). The biggest surprise was how killer the new stuff sounded. I had kind of marked the Lips as a band that I just didn't care for moving forward, but the new songs were fantastic...dark and noisy, like they should be. Hopefully it's not watered down on the album.
Got there just in time for EITS as well, who were great. I've never liked them as much as other post-rock type bands, but live they definitely bring it. Good time. Now I'll just wait another 5 years to see them :)
-
Sorry I missed the show... had to work setlist?? did they play the slow versions of Yoshimi and Fight test???

If this isn't it, its close. Might be missing one...
Intro with band entering from a big vagina, big ball rolling around in crowd and lots of crazy nonsense
Race for the Prize
Silver Trembling Hands
Yeah Yeah Yeah
Fight Test
Enthusiasm for Life
Convicted of the Hex
Yoshimi (slower)
Vein of Stars
Pompeii
WAND
Don't Use Jelly
Do You Realize
-
That sounds about right. They also played Bad Days.
-
I'd never seen the Lips before, so it was all fresh to me. I wasn't expecting the sheer over-the-top spectacle of it all: the best-of-breed light show, confetti cannons, giant balloons, giant balloons filled with confetti, giant inflatable animals, lasers, a gong, fog machines, and dancing girls and guys in furry costumes... almost sensory overload. Frankly, I just couldn't believe it. Oh, and the music which was great. Definitely feel like I got my money's worth! I can see how it might get old after a few shows, but I had a smile on my face all night long. I was in the pit, and I was glad to be there. It was so much fun. On a personal note, I recently lost a loved one and I found "Do You Realize?" very touching. The lyrics had new meaning to me.
