Mrs. Oleson from Little House on the Prairie and NASCAR great David Pearson. A real double whammy.

Bleecker Bob
was kinda like mecca to a suburban teen living on the island

I'd never even knew bootlegs existed until I went to this shop
only went a few times, but left a lasting impression
RIP BB

Quite an establishment!  I made a few pilgrimages way back.

Perhaps interesting:  a suitable counterpart to this place, for the cinemaphile world, is Jerry Ohlinger's store in the Village (well it moved around somewhat) and its namesake died like two weeks ago.

In retrospect a decent Republican President....a rarity

My (late) dad was a big fan.

Any rumor to his last words being "Hey wanna see a magic trick?"

I'm not prone to nostalgia, but the Bush 41 service really makes me miss the days when adults and decent men were not uncommon in DC.

Whenever a former President dies the news coverage is pure hagiography

It was always thus- even when Nixon died- and it’s fine as it is about respecting the office (but it is a little overblown)
