Lorna Doom

This makes me so sad. I met her once and she was really sweet.

Chris Vadala, saxophonist and director of jazz studies at the University of Maryland. In the 70s and 80s he was in Chuck Mangione's band. He can be heard on Mangione's 1977 smash hit "Feel So Good".

He also played all the jazz solos with the NSO at those Capital 4th concerts on PBS. Great musician, educator and human.

Paul Whaley, drummer for pioneering San Fran psych rockers Blue Cheer.

I saw him with Blue Cheer at the Black cat in 2006. He was 59 or 60 years old and he still was quite impressive behind the kit.

Alex was good friends with many in my So Cal circle and the stories being shared are amazing. Sad loss.

That's a bummer.   I saw them at the Safari Club, in probably 87, their one DC show during their initial run.  They were head and shoulders above the other bands of that time.
