Bixler High Private Eye (2019)

Xander DeWitt (Jace Norman) is an inquisitive teenager with a knack for solving mysteries. His sleuthing skills get put to the test when his dad, Russell, leaves for work one day and vanishes without a trace.  Frustrated by his attempts to find his dad, Xander’s mom sends him to go live with his grandfather (Ed Begley Jr.), a retired private investigator.  It’s in his dad’s hometown that Xander finds a surprising lead in the case and builds an unexpected partnership with Kenzie Messina (Ariel Martin), an investigative reporter for the school newspaper.

It felt like watching a Nickelodeon special, rather than a real movie.

For the record, the Dora movie stands on it's own as a good Bill and Ted meets Indiana Jones flick regardless of whether you've seen the kid's show. Though having seen the kid's show only makes it better.

Not every moment of life has to be lived in a Nick Cave world.

Perhaps less surprising than Billie Eilish's inability to know Van Halen, but I have never seem a Nickelodeon special. Are there some you can recommend?

Queen and Slim was interesting. One scene that I thought was a little heavy handed, but it was good.

Going to see Mr. Rogers with my Mom tonight. Kind of wanted the doc to stand on its own in my brain, but my Mom is excited to see it. My Grandmother lived down the street from him, so he's always been a special person in our lives!

Over the long break we saw: Swiss Army Man and Moonlight. I really loved both of those. As bagley knows, I predict that given what I have gone through in my own sordid domestic situation, I will never in my entire life watch Marriage Story.

Even though Once Upon A Time is better, I'm happy for Joon-ho and co. Parasite is excellent.

Once Upon A Time was alright.....not sure why it was even nominated. You don't even wanna see it again the second time like most Tarantino films.

It wasn't Oscar material, but Blinded By the Light was an entertaining watch, especially if you like retro 80's stuff, or Springsteen.

I was pulling for Marriage Story but happy a foreign-language film finally broke through. Just crazy to think it took this long. Fellini, Antonioni, Kurasawa, Bergman, Truffaut, Godard, et al et al.

Between the theater and showing friends & family, i've watched it no fewer than half a dozen times. Enjoyed each and every viewing.
