I thought former professional wrestler dwayne johnson was the highest paid actor

That was 2016 apparently

http://www.cnn.com/2018/01/11/opinions/williams-wahlberg-pay-gap-opinion-alaimo/index.html

In 2017, as Hollywood's women bravely spoke out against sexual harassment, the pay gap between female and male actors did not seem to be closing. According to Forbes' list of top-paid actors, Wahlberg -- the highest-paid man in the biz -- made $42 million more than the top-paid actress, Emma Stone.

On a side note I have to laugh at Jessica Chastain and Michelle Williams crying about being underpaid when they have a net worth of 20 million each.

I'm not sure whether to think this whole Mark Wahlberg thing, is simply where one actor, whether male or female, negotiated a better deal for themselves and somehow . . . that's a bad thing? If I could get an extra 1.5 million dollars for my job, I think I would say yes to it.

Johnson is box office viagra.
Wahlberg sucks.  He is a real piece of human garbage.  Check out his history of racism and assaulting children by throwing rocks at them while he was a teenager.
Personally I do not watch his movies for the reasons above.

Really liked I, Tonya. And so far am loving having a moviepass. Tonight going to see The Post. Will Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep get on my nerves, or will I like it? We shall see.

I also really liked I, Tonya. No chance of winning Best Picture, but Allison Janney is certainly a strong contender for Best Supporting.

I'll be skipping The Post. I think I am one of the few people who simply isn't a fan of Spielberg films. I find them formulaic and utterly predictable.

He served time for his crimes and seems genuinely remorseful and has gone on to (I think) live a crime and racism free life since doing some fucked up things as a teenager. Aren't we as a good society supposed to forgive people like that? I mean, if the victims were your family or friends I could see how it might be more difficult to forgive....

ditto

I Am Not Your Negro is an excellent documentary about Evers, King and Malcolm X through the eyes of the eloquent James Baldwin (voice by Samuel L. Jackson).  The perfect film to watch yesterday or any day for that matter.  Found it on Amazon.  EVERYONE needs to see this film.

It was SO BAD. I went to see it because I have a moviepass and thought I would appreciate the story. Totally overdone and obvious. Like every single part of every single scene was deliberately made to look "just so" down to where people were standing. Things totally looking like a movie set and just UGH.

People will fucking love it though.

Saw 3 Billboards last night. Good character study for the mom, but otherwise not the best. Why is this winning everything? Shape of Water and Call Me By Your Name were so much better. In Bruges is still his best movie.

The Florida Project and Phantom Thread were the best films I saw this year. Lady Bird and 3 Billboards were good. Shape of Water was tripe.

I can't believe the hoopla over three billboards . . . it was ok to good, but not a masterpiece.  and just wait, for Winchester to come on video.  you know, like vhs video; that's how bad it is.

I'm watching Shape of Water as I type this and I'm wondering how the hell did this stinker win Best Picture?
