Or, as already mentioned, he's played the Meyerhoff, which is a middle ground in our area between Sonar and DAR.

The Sonar show was not in support of any given album, so it was not as big of a deal; it was just him playing six months or so after he released his previous album, which is an eternity for him.

That said, this whole "quieter" Adams we are supposed to get at DAR is not getting me excited.  I'll probably skip this show.

Your theory on progression is somewhat flawed as it ignores that some people will never play smaller venues thanks to good connections, opening for a larger band and gaining that fanbase, etc.

With regards to Ryan, I'm guessing you weren't around or into him when he's played the 9:30 several times over the years? All of which have sold out within a couple of days, if not minutes? [/b]

I don't know if he's quieter, he's just sitting down. Apparently, the recent shows sounded amazing.

He was quite chatty at the Portland show, less so at the Seattle one.

In Portland, the show closed with him walking to the front of the stage (there was already a mic stand in place), wearing sunglasses and singing "Goodnight, Hollywood Blvd." God, that show was great...

yup, i've sat in boxes numerous times at DAR and i'm a big fan if you can't get decent Orch seats.  you indeed did the right thing taking the box seats over orch that far back - you'll have a clear line of sight, and people in the boxes are less likely to stand up for an entire show (not sure what ryan adams shows are like, tho).  get there on the early side since boxes are GA.  each one has 5 moveable chairs in it, get there first to grab the two at the front (although you might want the two along the side/inner edge).  if given a choice i prefer boxes 11 through 26.

no, not THAT kind of a GA, you hoser.  there are only 5 tickets sold per box, you are guaranteed a chair (just not a specific chair).

for shows that aren't 100% sold out, it's common that only 4 of the 5 chairs are sold, so you can shuffle them around and get quite comfy.  when all 5 are sold, it can get a tad crowded - you have to play musical chairs to let people out.  not horrible though.

maybe - but it seems like there is a lot of demand for this ryan adams show... if it's the kind of concert where people are snatching up all the singles, then you might have a fifth.  but i hope that you don't  :)
