The most-excellent Portland show (7/26/07) was posted on archive.org earlier this week. You can stream it on the site before downloading, which is cool. I've been seeding the show since late Tuesday night and it's getting a lot of traffic.  :)

Saw him last time around and was really disappointed.  Did he get his act together a bit more?  The show I saw sort of blew.  When I say 'act' I do not mean drugs, I know he kicked a lot, but I almost liked him when he was half in the bag.

The new album is not doing it for me. It sounds like a male version of Sheryl Crow...

She sings back up on "Two", so I find it funny that you've pointed that out! (Though I'm not sure if the album does sound like a Male Sheryl Crow or not...Still deciding that one. Besides, which era of her work are we talking about...recent or like Tuesday Night Music Club?)

So I received my ticket today, Orchestra, Row A, Seat 5 and on the ticket it says, "May Be Obstructed".  I have never been to DAR so what the hell?

You should be fine so long as he doesn't play the show standing at the back of the stage, on the side that you are sitting.

have a look at http://www.dar.org/conthall/seating.cfm (or http://www.dar.org/pics/conthall/seatchrtbig.gif for high-rez) - your seat is at the far side, third seat in from the aisle.  *sometimes* the PA might be set up in such a way to block part of the view, sometimes not (they can shove it all the way to the side, or they don't have any stacks on the stage since they're all suspended from the ceiling).

either way, you'll be able to see center of the stage (i.e. ryan) no problem.  you'll be fine.

we had the same seats, opposite side of the stage for roots/chuck brown/lupe earlier this year.  i seem to recall stacks, but our view wasn't obstructed.  a little too loud for my liking without earplugs, and my neck hurt like a bitch having to keep it turned for hours (i'm too damn considerate).  all in all, no complaints.

If they stay in the current stage set-up, from left (facing the stage)...it's the piano guy (forget his name), Ryan, Brad (drums), Chris (bass), Neal (guitar), Jon (steel).

But I've read elsewhere that the fall tour will change it up a bit, so take that with a grain of salt.

That's good to hear that seat 5 is alright. Seat 6 is what I'm buying and I was worried I wouldn't be able to see anything.

I have a few questions still though...

 1. If you're in the front row of the concert, can't you get closer to the stage? I remember when IMP had shows for Morrissey and The pixies both at DAR Hall, people were up against the baracades, but they most likely had tickets for the first row or two. Any possibility of that happening for this show?

2.I found other tickets that are like for Section B, Row A, seat 1 (and around those areas too) and ticketmaster also gave warnings for those may have obstructed views too. Are those good seats? While I would love to be up front, I also have to consider my hearing. (Granted, Ryan Adams is an artist worthy of making my ears ring, I'd like to hang onto to my hearing so I can see him again someday and well, I have Morrissey the day after him)

I actually left out a question...

I just looked at the map and realized that seat 6 is on the opposite side of seat 5. So is it going to be a good view?

At Bloc Party there were no barricades.  In fact they came through a few times and told us to stop leaning on the stage.

Ha. Thanks for making me laugh. Anyone else have memories (most from the 90s) of getting yelled at by the ushers when you got out of your seat?

Is the orchestra level at DAR  always seated? Or do they take the seats out of the ground level for certain events?

i've never seen the seats removed, i'm certain that they are permanent and all shows are "seated".  but depending on the performers, people may not actually spend much time seated.  i remember grohl asking, with some degree of disbelief,  during the acoustic tour to please sit down - "this is an acoustic show, people!".  with a flat orch section, as soon as they first few rows stand up, everyone behind them has to as well if they want to see anything.  advantage of boxes and sides: more possibilities of staying seated and still having a view  :)
