Is Warren Ellis (of Dirty Three) still a Bad Seed?  If so than there's reason alone to check this out.  He's incredible.  Nick's not for everyone I guess though some tracks certainly cross over ie Mercy Seat from the album Tender Prey.  Such a great record that one!

A "contrarian stance" would indicate that I say these things JUST to oppose and stir things up.  I don't.  I (and many others) feel this retro alt-rock deification is embarrassingly stupid.  It probably makes you feel more secure in your opinions if you believe that people don't  really hate Nick Cave, Lou Reed, Led Zepellin, etc.  But they do.  They really do.  Sorry, to upset your carefully constructed world view.

 i think MCR and FOB are jokes, insulting to music, corporate puppets, etc.  do i go starting a million threads every time one of them is in the news?  nu-uh.  although pointless, here's a polite suggestion: take a page from rhett/charlie, who often disagrees or does like the same things as many people here: voice your opposition in a funny way, keep it short, and concentrate on stuff you do like.  other than MCR and FOB, who are no longer fresh, who do you like brian?  i'm always up for new music suggestions.

I should have mentioned that the lineup will be 10 kids from School of Rock All-Stars, plus 4 or 5 (depending on the shows) "Old" Butthole Surfers.
 
 Gibby fronted a larger continent of SOR All-Stars playing BHS music at Rock and Roll Hotel in February, and it was really good.
