 i know mustafa akbar is one of the vocalists with thunderball. anyone have info on cy young or muhsinah? i tried the usual suspects but didn't find much info.

well, the time i am speaking of was spring 2000, so it might have changed since then.  i had a friend that worked at a record store that was a tm outlet at the time and he told me i couldn't get them through there, so..

Does anyone think the presale is necessary to get tickets for this?  I'm thinking you may need to get tix in the first coupla weeks they're on sale, but presale??

I have never been to Iota (been in the area less than two years) but I think I will checkout Dando on 1/26.

Usually, yes, 9:00 is fine.  But a heads up that a couple years ago I went to see Dando at Iota, and by 9:00 the club was sold out.  I'd recommend getting there early for him (even though I don't think he sold out Black Cat a few months ago -- Iota is much smaller).
 
 As for the no advance sales, it's pretty typical policy for a small club.  To tell the truth, it's quite refreshing sometimes (though I understand it can be a pain for someone from out of town -- you just need to get there early).

Go to Iota early and have a nice meal (light fare or full meal at reasonable prices.)  Say "hi" to Steve and I bet you'll get squired into the "music hall" when you're ready.  If not, move up to the bar on the restaurant side, order a drink, and you'll hear some fine music; some of the bar seats also give you a view of the stage.  
 
 Parking garage on Fillmore is open late - unlike the one over by the movie theater off Clarendon Blvd. which closes a couple entrances early, leaving you to wander all the F**K over the place trying to find your car.
