DAM! Festival finally announce their first batch of performers:

Travis Morrison, Longwave, Forget Cassettes, Hopewell, De Novo Dahl, Decibully, Bishop Allen, Carol Bui, Falcon and many, many more to come...

Also, we are having a pre-party on October 20th at the RnR hotel with Exit Clov and a special guest, plus the whole evening will be DJed by Geologist from Animal Collective.

We promise some other big names to come. ~40 bands, so 31 more to go...
nice band list redsock - well done! Will be excited to see Bishop Allen

Ha, that is funny. Love is All was holding out for $1000 to play the dam fest. They'll be lucky to get half of that on this show. But they will get more exposure i imagine...

Nice list! I've been wanting to see Bishop Allen for a long time. Why does Falcon sound familiar? I'll have to hunt down some tracks...

Falcon is a side-project of Longwave members.

Please, at least for the sake of Grace and me, do not make this like all of the other DC "festivals" and book shows at all the 21+ venues.  I really want to see Travis...and I guess I already can't see Exit Clov...

RnR Hotel is all ages. Tell your friends. Travis is playing the RnR Hotel as are the Clov. You are saved. All three of the other venues are 21 and over.

We tried for the all ages venues, believe me. I went to war with the Black Cat, only to lose. And we would have had a 9:30 club show if the schedule worked out better. To their credit, Lisa and Seth seemed willing to work with us, the timing just didn't work out.

I guess they were just more interested in the prospects of a Carbon Leaf/Good Charlotte weekend!

Wait, what other festivals are u talking about? Besides Snailhook's, most of which I think are at underage venues and I doubt your tastes match his, and Six Points, what else is there?

Hell yes, The Frames are a band that people like.  Unfortunately, they will not be at the Iota on 10/12.  Glen Hansard, the singer/frontman of The Frames, and his new side project The Swell Season will be.  Which is something I posted a few pages ago.

Whoever was wondering about who is psyched for Dragonforce, I would be if they weren't playing the same night as Tool.  I've wanted to see Tool for about four years now, and have just missed them several times.  I can't pass up the chance to finally see them.  I do certainly now regret passing up Dragonforce at Jaxx a few months ago, that's for sure.

I downloaded this from emusic last week but haven't given it a good listen yet - the bits I did listen to I really liked - reminded me of the quieter stuff on For The Birds which is my favorite Frames album

I've been on the lookout for it, but haven't had any luck.  Looks like I'll have to order it online.

The Iota show is the first date in a small Swell Season tour here in the States.  It's five days after The Frames finish up a tour of Ireland in support of their new album, which releases September 22 in Ireland.  I'm not sure if I'll be able to wait for the stateside release, whenever that may be, or if I'll import a copy.  :)
