so phish did exile on main street as their halloween cover album last night . . . with sharon jones onstage singing the entire set.  interesting.  it was nice, but gov't mule also covered the stones for their halloween show (better songs) at the tower theatre.   i think i now would rather have heard thriller or purple rain or even bowie.  kudos to sirius sat. radio for playing the entire festival performance, including today's first ever phish acoustic set . . . which will, with luck, be gamehendge.

Gamehendge?

hahahahah

actually . . . you are correct.  the laugh is on me.  they already did "punch you in the eye."

PYITE isn't part of Gamehendge although it's referenced in the song.

PYITE has been part of Gamehendge before but not always....same with Kung, It's Ice, and a few others.

By "Gamehendge," I figured we were just talking about the TMWSIY songs. Didn't know others were ever included in the Gamehendge sequence.

Thus ends my talking in hippie lingo on this board.

Have Weezer fallen so far off that they can be lumped under the same umbrella as Creed and Nickelback and Puddle of Mud and Kid Rock yet? If not, I think they are closing in fast.

Creed ALWAYS sucked.
Nickleback was about ½ a CH worse than Creed.
POM and KR rock.

All garbage

No Garbage is another band.  And they aren't bad either.

11/13 @ Velvet Lounge:

Maybe Mars presents THE CHINESE UNDERGROUND TOUR with P.K. 14, Xiao He + downstairs DJ Lunch Money

Doors 9pm/Show 10pm/18+/$10

This is a rare opportunity to see some great Chinese bands.  I've only seen Xiao He in the past, and he's incredible, both with his band Glorious Pharmacy and solo. He's one of those musicians who is equally adept at making rock/folk/pop music (albeit from his own unique and off-kilter perspective) as he is putting together sprawling ambient instrumentals.  His new 2 disc set features all improv performance--one CD is done in the studio, the other brings together years of live performances.  I'm guessing the VL show will skew towards the experimental.  This show really shouldn't be missed.

Sounds pretty cool. Now I'm torn between this and Shrinebuilder in Baltimore (another Wino band with no DC date; wtf?).
And there's my Hutch moment for the day.

This would definitely be up your alley Azagh.  I just checked the scheulde and it looks like Xiao He will be performing at the Govinda Gallery on 11/14.  Although you'd be missing PK14, at least you'd get to see some of the tour (and IMHO, the best performer of the stable).  You can actually download all of the albums for free I think, from here: http://www.maybemars.com/index.php/usa-tour-2009/  Check out the Xiao He one.  The second CD, in particular, is incredible.  I was able to find a copy from a Chinese website and the packaging is as good as the CD's contents (in a good way).  Hope you can make it.
