What I liked about the Peter Hook show: the incredible range and emotion of Joy Division's music being brought to life in a respectful and well-executed manner. Putting aside any kind of idolatry and expectation that it'll BE Joy Division on the stage, seeing a song like "Day of the Lords" come together in a live setting made a huge amount of emotion bubble up within me. When people started flipping out during "Transmission" and screaming "DANCE TO THE RADIO!", it was just one of those perfectly sublime moments when you couldn't believe how good it felt to celebrate music with that level of intensity. It was way better than any show New Order ever did (and they were notorious for hating performing live). My brain was flooded with endorphins for days after that Peter Hook show. Probably my favorite concert last year.
