The gig at the Smith Center at GWU? I heard someone pissed Morrissey off and they only played about 3 songs. I knew this girl who got backstage and partied with Mike Joyce and Johnny Marr though, she said it was amazing.

Yeah GWU.  I think it being general admission kept ticket prices high. But I would be  pissed if I paid 35 dollars in 1986 dollars and they only did 3 songs.

The Jesus and Mary Chain Coachella gig (five years ago  tomorrow!) obliterated any expectations I had. Hopefully they have kept it together well since.

In a weird confluence of events that responds to everyone's posts about the Smiths' Smith Center show:

1. I was selling tickets outside the Smith Center that night ($35 sounds about right);
2. They played a whole set; and
3. Backstage after the show I happened into a dressing room/locker room and saw that one of the band was having relations with a young woman.

That wasn't a young woman, that was just Morrissey.

I liked Soft House.
Nice chill warehouse show space. Shame DC has nowhere near as many spaces like that as Baltimore.

Just one of the reasons I like to go to Baltimore over DC for live music.

It's a movie, but sounds fun:

THE BEATLES: THE LOST CONCERT

THE BEATLES: THE LOST CONCERT features the group's first-ever concert in America, performed at the Washington Coliseum in Washington, D.C. Filmed in 1964 expressly for the big screen, the concert footage was largely unavailable and unseen in theaters for over 47 years.

Sure hope that this has been enhanced or lots of extra bonus footage edited in the mix. I've got this footage (assuming it's the same piece) on a disc somewhere. Found it online about 12 years ago. It's really bad, and that's coming from a big one time Beatles fan who prefers their older material.

The best stuff that I got was the extra footage I found that came from the Ed Sullivan Show. Apparently, they must have done extra songs for the audience but only broadcasted one song per tv showcase. There's some good stuff from those non-aired slots! Of course, our Brian wouldn't like it.

You prefer older Beatles over the later psych stuff? That is super surprising.
