Intentions behind reunions are typically evident. Pavement, Pixies and Soundgarden reunions, for instance, are obvious cash grabs. I think there is more to the Dinosaur Jr., Mission of Burma and Swans reunions, though. The three latter bands have all released material on par with their older stuff and are consistently still fantastic live acts.

Yeah, the Ween thing is a bummer, but not really unexpected.  Gene seems to have been phoning things in for a few years now; can't say I'm surprised to see him say he's been thinking about it for eight years in that Rolling Stone article.

Probably my consistently favorite band...but even I didn't really want to hear a new Ween record.

Honestly surprised it took them this long. That last Sonar show I caught in 2007? was the most through the motions Ween show I saw. Mushroom Festival was cool but that even felt forced.

I'm fine with the Pavement and Pixies cash grab reunions as they were really great shows and I didn't get to see them before they broke up the first time.

The Sebadoh Classic line up tour at the club a couple years ago, while sparsely attended, was great. I really dont care if its a cash grab or not, if its a band that I dig and they put on a great show.

24 Aug
Al Green - Wolf Trap (Filene Center)

(I dont remember seeing this posted, but might be wrong.  It could be a fun summer show.)

Agreed.

I saw them once at the crowbar in state college in 1998 or 1999 and they were awful!  And they played FOREVER...it was 5 bucks.
