This is the weirdest show I've seen you dorks freak out about.
B&S have played here many times, and the rest of those bands are terrible, awful, worthless wastes of time.
The proudest day of my life was when I spilled soup all over Andrew Bird. Lol, he was so annoyed.

Couldn't agree more. What kind of soup?

I own every LP and EP by all four bands. I absolutely love this quadruple bill but different strokes for different folks.

I know, I just felt like lashing out.
Yada, it was a couple years ago when he played a desk show. Might have been clam chowder. I remember thinking it had some kind of meat in it, and he looks like one of those vegetarian wieners, so that just made it even more sweet. "Sorry I got carcass juice all over your scarf that you're wearing indoors, Andrew Bird."

B&S and Spoon are HOF-level acts that have been personal favorites for approx 20 years at this point.

ExHex is a fun band that I'd check out at the Club...so added value.

I'm kind of meh on Bird, but I've never seen him live.

Overall this is a pretty damn great event...especially if you think all the festivals suck these days.

I saw Andrew Bird at Bonnaroo in 2009.  My friends were annoying me, so I left them at camp and went to check out music I hadn't listened to before.  Saw Andrew Bird and the set completely blew me away, possibly the biggest take away from that whole festival.  After the festival, he toured and played the club, so I bought tickets to that right away.  Excited for a club show that floored me at a festival, we got there early and St. Vincent opened on that tour and was equally amazing.  I don't think I have seen a show since that the opener was as the headliner since that show.  With that said, I have seen Andrew Bird several times since, including the show at the club last year and it must have been a shock to some people that listened to his older stuff.  People poured out of the sold out show like Dylan at the Newport Folk Festival, but I really enjoyed it.

Has his music really changed that much? It was a little different in the earliest times (like with Bowl of Fire back in 98), but it seems like he's been releasing remarkably similar albums going back to 2003's Weather Systems. I did think his most recent album was his weakest in a while, but it didn't seem all that different.

I love his recorded music, have seen him twice (once with Bowl of Fire at the Cat in 99, once headlining 9:30 a few year later) and have to agree with you about the live show.

To be fair, killsaly got shit on for shows he was interested a hundred times more than ever shit on someone else's shows of choice.

True. I am just the "the band you like is terrible" police; and also probably a hypocrite.

David J
Philadelphia House Show
June 18, 2017 (Sunday)

I'm hoping he adds a DC show.....but this is tempting for me....I been listening a ton to Love and Rockets and associated solo acts/bands/.....and I just read his book on Bauhaus which was a great read...
