Yes, it was.

If the trade was such a gamechanger, kindly explain to me -- in your view of things -- whether the Pens would've lost to a lameduck Ottawa team who'd been in the toilet the second half of the season in the first round, or to a punchless Rangers team in the second round. Because if you're of the belief (as I am) that they would've beaten those teams without Hossa, then -- gasp!! -- Hossa hasn't made a difference yet.

i am the opposite, watching and mispicking the east, in the first round anyway.

 i'll go

 Pens in 5
 Wings in 6

did i mention i win $1500 if the Pens win the east? [/b]
How many teams did you put money on Sonic?!?! [/b]
just Pittsburgh, as soon as Ottawa started choking it up, and Malkin stepped in even when Crosby was out, i knew it was time to pull the trigger on a futures bet.

I dont hedge.  I figured Montreal and Detroit were the best teams til the Habs traded Huet. Cause a veteran high powered offense and doodie in the playoffs unless you have sold experienced goalies to back em up. The Pens, they have enough scoring to make up for the fact that Fluery aint the best goalie in town.

Yes - Caps fan - the NHL season DOES extend into May & June. Your ignorance is understandable tho.    ;)

Timonen out for playoffs with blood clot
 By Tim Panaccio

 INQUIRER STAFF WRITER

Flyers defenseman Kimmo Timonen was diagnosed with a blood clot in his left ankle today. He will be out for the remainder of the playoffs.
The diagnosis was made at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Timonen said.

"I got hit with a shot in Game 4 against Montreal," said Timonen, 33. "It's been getting sorer and sorer every day. We thought we'd get it checked out because it didn't get better and they found a blood clot.

"This was just an awful day for me. I played in Game 5 in Montreal, but it was really hurting me. I have to be honest: I didn't expect this result. How many times in your life do you get a chance to play for this, with a chance to go to the Stanley Cup Finals? This is just awful."

Timonen did not make the trip to Pittsburgh for tomorrow's start of the Eastern Conference finals against the Penguins.

The Flyers plan an announcement later tonight.

"We're still trying to get more information," said general manager Paul Holmgren.

Timonen is the club's best defenseman. He was expected to play against the Penguins' dangerous Evgeni Malkin in the series. His loss could have a huge impact on the Flyers' chances

I saw that earlier on hockeybuzz. Huge blow for the Flyers' chances.

Pens vs. Flyers game 1

Didn't think the refs would attempt to give the Flyers an advantage going into the game. Lot's of missed calls.

The Flyers are clearly missing Kimmo more than they let on.

Ribiero better get suspended for that cheap-y to Ozzie's face at the end. Why must every team over the last few years, after discovering they've inevitably lost the series, baseball bat a Red Wing?

Yeah, it was cheap, but so was Ozzie's butt end at Ribiero as he skated behind the net.

It was to his chest protector, not the face and Ozzie did some pretty good acting after the swing. If he wasn't acting, I'd be blasting some slap shots at him the next game.

They we both getting a little cheap, I'd let it go if I was the league.
It was good for heating things up for the next game.
I wouldn't rush Mule back. They'll easily take the Stars without him.

You can't risk a player with that much upside and potential's career, no way. They have to make sure he's fine before bringing him back.

Nice job by the refs snatching the broom from the Wings last night.

'Goaltender Interference' has become a Rorschach test for refs in the playoffs this year.
