That's excellent.
Thing is, there was the song "Disco Duck" by Rick Dees and His Cast of Idiots and then there was a series of Disco Duck records where Irving(?) did a few shout-outs and then there would a hit song, covered by some generic sounding band. I distinctly remember Irving singing a few songs himself, a la Chipmonk Punk

Yes, please.  :D  I don't care where it is, just as long as they do not skip the D.C./MD/VA.

Richard Thompson is playing the Philly folk fest Sunday August 22nd. The week before he has no dates. A club date would be nice.  :)

This is a great thought, but probably better directed to the promoter of the Birchmere.  Last Thompson show at the 9:30 was half full at most.

This might be too small for the club but much stranger things have happened:
Omar Souleyman is playing Central Park on 6/26 with more North American dates to be added. A 930 show would be kind of awesome.

Just in case you're not following all of my posts, which you can do by clicking this link once in while, or every morning after you finish the Post, over in the Rollcall Thread, I posted the following:

I would also like to point out that The Fillmore offered a 4 pack for this show which reduced the costs by about a third.  I was so impressed that I bought 4 tickets at $16.70 each ($24.60 with surcharge) rather than $22.50 each ($32.50 with surcharge) and even if I have to give the 4th ticket away, it will be worth it to me and the venue (for those bad at maths, I spent $98.40 on four tickets instead of $97.50 on three, and the venue will have one more drinker in the house).  Just sayin....

Since you have not been shy about your desire to make money hand over fist, there are simple economic pricinples that could be applied to make this work for shows that might not sell out.

seeing how the club oversells it shows . . . do you really think it a good idea to have "ticket bundles"?

Having DJ a couple SOLD OUT Hanson shows, I can  tell you that one can see bare floor in back corners of the club. I've heard the situation is slightly different at a Gov't Mule show.

Do you honestly think that for the sake of a few extra dollars, the club would risk having the Fire Marshall show up and shut down a over sold show?  I would think that would result in angry fans and a PR nightmare.

Isn't possible that like the Black Cat which never feels oversold, that The National doesn't have enough exits, etc to support a larger capacity?

There are always these claims of 930 overselling but nobody is ever able to substantiate them.

I think most people consider "beyond comfortable" to be oversold, whether within the legal limit or not.
