In 2010 their stage anniversary will be celebrated with a tour through Europe and the United States.

i thought after the last tour they said they weren't going to bother touring the US anymore because it was expensive?

...then again, in mid-2003 they had something on their website about playing in baghdad in september (of that year).

dunno if 930 is too small a venue for them, so do what you must... just put DC on their itinerary!

That combined with Social D the same week will assure a DC visit from Smackie.

any chance of getting the Stooges down here around the time of their other shows in late August/early September so I don't have to trek to AC?

Ditto that...I think I'm getting a friday ticket to ATP to see them and Mudhoney but if they played down here i'd see that as well...

Yes, please!

If a local show doesn't pan out, I suggest taking our approach and making a weekend of it.  My Morning Jacket is playing in Philly that Sunday night at very cool looking new venue right on the riverfront.

Maybe because you're a mod you couldn't post the quote, but I will because I loved it:

After a brief discussion on Live Nation....

"Sales are down in bad situations, like they should be," Hurwitz says. "But, you know, talking about the concert business as a whole, as it relates to the large companies that try to run the whole industry, is a little like asking BP, 'How's the oil business these days?' "

hehe.

And then:

The Concert As 'Product'

According to Hurwitz, a promoter's first responsibility is to make sure the concertgoing experience is a good one.

"Buying a band for the entire country is treating it like it's product," Hurwitz says. "And, although it's product in that we're all trying to make money at this, if you treat the country and if you treat everyone like it's product, then that's how they're going to treat you."
