i'm fairly certain that the Strathmore is a lot more expensive to rent vs. the Tower, which may even be owned by the promoter.

Looking doubtful, but it's possible I guess. Depends on when Freefest happens. Same thing with QOTSA. Tour dates filling in. I feel like DC is missing out on some good tours this year. No Peter Hook and the Light this time either. No FLAG.

Isn't FreeFest September 5th?  This would rule out Vampire Weekend and Queens of the Stone Age.

No definite date, but that was what was being floated. And apparently now that rules out the Flaming Lips too  if that's when it is.
