- Caetano Veloso (probably he would play in a theater, but it would be nice at the club too).

and too small for the club, but I'm not sure how booking is done

- Tim Hecker (would be nice at Sixth and I)

and my dream would be that High Llamas has enough fans in the US so that they can tour

I have always been a bigger fan of High Llamas than Stereolab.

Funny story about The High Llamas a Baltimore band with the same name was payed either money or got a van so that Sean O'Hagan could use the name as his own.

I saw the High Llamas open for Stereolab at the 930 Club.

They were boring as pretty much all their albums are.. I kept buying them hoping to find something that people were seeing but eventually gave up (the one that rhymes with mingus or something bout cans maybe?).. Also what kept me buying them was the work he was doing with the groop.

I do like the Gideon Gaye one a lot though... then they did that Hawaii one which is so boring..although of course I liked the Nick Drake cover...

I remember at that Stereolab show actually talking to Sean not sure what the heck about.. probably about how Stereolab was far superior.. .......or how great Nick Drake was....seems like in those days half the conversations were about how great Drake was...

Recently I found a bunch of Microdisney LPs for a pittance at a thrift.....that was Sean's first band.. I'm scared to listen to them..

Of course Sean's contributions to some of the greatest music ever made speaks for itself.

Anyhow I would definitely be up for a High Llamas/Stereolab show at the 930! But the Llamas would definitely have to be paired with somebody.

I know the Lab wasn't doing that well towards the end but I hope they reunite and play at the 930! i would be all over that..


in a weird twist Laetitia Sadier is giving singing lessons via Skype or what have you.... that would be a kick in the head. the end.

High Llamas toured the US once on their own in 1997, and then in 2004. The last tour wasn't very successful. I think Sean said that they have no plan of playing outside England because people do not go see them.

The last few albums on Drag City are quite good. Mostly I like the style and sound, I don't think they have albums or shows that could make a large impact, but I think they are much better than the average touring band and it's a shame that they don't get people at their shows.

I been on a big Echo and the Bunnymen (is there perfection greater than the instrumental bridge on the Cutter, or the Killing Moon, Do it Clean, Bring on the Dancing Horses?)....I think they will be booking dates for the US for the summer and the DC show if it happens would come down to the U Street Hall or the Black Cat I should think.. would love to see them...
