I always enjoyed the VFest. Saw many great bands. Was free. Seth on the roof. Etc.

VFest was great. When it went free it was a shitheap of drunken imbeciles.

Because we have no radio stations similar to WXPN in the DMV?

You are the winner!
We should though, right? Weird that we don't. Closest to it is WTMD in Baltimore, and they put on some shows, but not this big. Someone fix this. Hutch can get it done. Thanks.

I volunteer to spearhead this project of tentatively named Capital Radio One.... with some seed $$$$ and strong relations with IMP I think we could deliver a robust alternative to our current airwaves...some DJs under consideration could be

DJ Yada to lead "The Brown".. jam band focused... latter era Phish.. Jerry singing right before he croaked etc..the "browner" the better... think 38 minute poopship destroyer..
DJ Julian would of course head the radio version of "Julian's America" (This is one I think we could syndicate nationally)..of course he will need an entire team of staff to support him
DJ Walkie on his return will lead a show about cats and gays...its time slot will vary and it will move around and take unexpected hiatuses just to keep the audience on its toes and wanting more.. also the show's name will change repeatedly
DJ Sidehatch will oversee a show about has been punk/hardcore acts with guest Bob72 and weekly calls to Rollins.. Ian MacKaye will also chime in ocassionally with stories of Dischord revelry..there will be a lot of talk about the good old days skateboarding etc
DJ Kubacheck will take the graveyard slot and play 90s alternative rock (Luna, Smithereens, Feelies, etc)
DJ Relaxer will host a prime time show about sex in the modern age (a sort of Dan Savage for the straight world)
DJ Seth will host twin shows on Saturday nights "Gambler's Den and "The Ravens Show"..
DJ Kettlebug will host a health show focused on hearing aids ("Can You Hear Me?") and "The O's Hour"
DJ Bearman will handle Britpop delving into his boundless collection to play deep cuts from the likes of popular acts like Carter USM...
DJ James Ford will take a look at the long dead alternative country genre while also hosting a show on personal finance and provide "life coaching" on other matters.. this will be a call in show and Kosmo will man the phones..
DJ VanSmack is a tough one as he could handle multiple concepts...a show about baseball sort of from a would be general manager's perspective, a "lifestyles of the rich and the famous" type hour, "The Technology Hour" and a show for anglophiles to be hosted jointly with former boardie Frank Gallagher ...all come to mind as possibilities..
DJ's Hutch and Dyecraig will cohost "Cratedigger's Corner" where we will focus on fun stories of digging through boxes full of moldy records in order to get our fix and our favorite "scores".. Dyecraig will handle most of the human element stories (ie. the lady who used to work for Van Halen, etc) ..we will partner with area record stores
DJ Kosmo will take the reins on "Boardie Bastion" which will be a reality show based around the concept of a guy who likes to DJ and somehow gets roped into being the moderator of a rock club forum.. riveting stuff with special panel discussions on subjects such as spam, trolls, you name it!.. for the sake of authenticity real life boardies will be featured and there will be a segment were callers get to decide outcomes (ie., Who gets banned? Boardie 1 or Boardie 2)

It has yet to be determined exactly how seasonal specials/award shows will be structured... for example the prestigious 930 Boardie of the Year award will become formalized as an award show of the Emmys/ESPYS sort to be broadcast live on Capital Radio One and simulcast across the nation on the Capital Radio One Radio Network (CPORN)

other DJs in the lineup to be announced soon.... we are particularly looking for a Go Go expert to cover the nation's capital homegrown music scene but may simply have to draft Big Tony.. also a strong effort will be made to recruit DJ Killsally to host "The Hobo Rock Hour" wherein he will be on location at different hobo rock venues -primarily in the Baltimore area- covering the up and coming hobo/busker movement..

i thought radio was de rigueur.  do we really need a broadcast medium to have a day in the sun?

I would be calling it "This Julian's American Life". Shots fired, Ira Glass, shots fired.

I have updated it and penciled him in to man the phones for DJ James Ford but by all means let us come up with concepts for all our soon to be stars...
