The last show I saw there was Lou Reed...80's maybe??...horrible sound, horrible sightlines and an overall fucking unpleasant experience....have not set foot in the place since....and don't plan to.....especially after being in cool midsize venues like the Fillmore or the Warfield...

i apologize if i came across mean with my last post.  music has the strangest effect on people.  i randomly picked out a cd to clean my home to, and drew this disk i've listened to half of once since i received it over six years ago, which was  built to spill "there's nothing wrong with love."  is that their official (major or not) first? listening to it made me realize that i like this and those might like that, for some reason.  it makes you happy and all universally snuggly.  what a strange reaction.  i was flipping through the tube this morning, and on the dicovery whatever channel, they had this "'hister' and the occult" thing on, and i saw that music, namely some work by the brilliant Wagner, inspired most of what 'hister' dreamed of becoming.  now that's crazy.

and i totally agree about the lincoln.  i choose that place over the other two, major theatre:  warner and national.  maybe even my favorite place to see a show . . . other than nine thirty.  i'm still listening to bts, as i'm sure you can tell.  beck nailed the coffin in when he played in 'o three(?), 'o two(?).

I"m sorry but $6.50 - $7.00 for a warm, in the can, I'll pour it for you Heinekin or Amstel is overpriced. High price for beer at 930 is what, $5.00? ANd that's for the good stuff (Red Hook, Dogfish, Sierra, etc).

Giant has a 12 pack of Sam Adams for sale for $10. Spending money on beer at concerts is simply stupid, isn't it? I might buy one or two drinks a year at shows.

Whether beer is $5 or $7.50, it's a huge profit margin.

not if i went. we went to the Prince show at MCI and everyone in the joint was standing up dancing (its prince!) EXCEPT the guy behind us with his woman, who kept asking me to sit down, finally we switched seats.

no one at the Motley crue concert was sitting except for the 2 rows behind us , we eventually stood up, no one said anything.

at the Black crowes, before they went on, girl behind me goes "you arent gonna stand up and dance around are you, cause I'm 4'11"."  and this was UNreserved seating. move somewhere else bitch.

   sheesh.

actually:
 a) there is not much that comes to dar that i want to see
 b) what comes to dar that i do want to see i can typically see elsewhere
 c) if the building manager or whatever it was acts basically like he wants to fight you, i don't need to give my money to said building. dar can burn for all i care.

it's not that great of a building/concert hall.

What if you "had an issue with one of the staff" at 9:30, Black Cat, Iota, or whereever it is you like to go? Would you hold the same childish "I'm not going back" grudge against any venue that done you wrong once?

if someone offends your character and/or humiliates you or whatever, i dont see whats childish about not giving them your money.  Should people be allowed to treat you however they want because they have something you want?

i dont think so. I was wrongly accused of shoplifting at Macy's once and i will never go back, no matter what kind of sale they have.

and i dont feel like i am missing a damn thing, except for being humiliated and taken advantage of.

Why is it childish?

We live in a capitalist society and one of the best ways to express your opinion is with the money you spend.  If a business gives you a poor product or poor service, not patronizing that business is better than writing a letter or bitching on a messageboard.

i dont use ticketmaster.com  and sometimes i miss out on shows because of it, and sure i bitch initially for 10 minutes or a whole day or whatever, but eventually i get over it, and i'd rather miss the show then give them my money.

How big are those places compared to 9:30 club?  I think DAR serves for a niche above -- 2500 rather than 1200.  [Eww, I just thought, the 'standing' alternative to DAR is probably Nation...]

I guess it depends on the experience.

If I had one isolated incident with one isolated employee of an establishment, and that incident didn't reflect the overarching attitude of the establishment, I don't think I would do something as excessive as "I'm never going there again." If anything, I would get the employees name, and ask to speak to management or write management a letter of complaint against said employee. Or I would let it slide as a one time bad fluke.

If the incident happened repeatedly, well yes then I would take my business elsewhere.
