if someone offends your character and/or humiliates you or whatever, i dont see whats childish about not giving them your money.  Should people be allowed to treat you however they want because they have something you want?

i dont think so. I was wrongly accused of shoplifting at Macy's once and i will never go back, no matter what kind of sale they have.

and i dont feel like i am missing a damn thing, except for being humiliated and taken advantage of. [/b]

the issue that i had @ dar i don't think would be an issue @ 930.  if a member of the 930 staff acted the way this person at dar acted, i can't imagine why they would have a job for very long.  i have never seen/heard of 930 management acting in a way that this person did at dar.

and if i had a big enough issue with somewhere, then yes, i would refuse to go back.  i don't live in dc, so i have to travel to go to the shows.  if it means just travelling in a different direction to go to a show, so be it.

You're right, it does depend on the situation, as I noted.

Did a guard punch Distance in the face?

I can't imagine why a guard would punch someone as dull as me in the face. But if they did, I would ask to speak to management immediately. The letter would come later in the form of a lawsuit, provided my own conduct hadn't been inappropriate.

to answer your question, sonick...before i went to dar, i was told by others that dar was a "seated" venue and that security would ask you to sit if you decided to stand.  at the sonic youth/wilco show, for example, the crowd remained seated until the band invited the crowd to stand up towards the end. even then, the balcony remained firmly seated. it was really uncomfortable and inhibiting. maybe they don't want people falling off the very steeply inclined balcony?? it almost made me dizzy it was that steep.

So what was the issue, and why could it not possibly be an issue at the 9:30?

because the atm was broken and there was a no readmittance rule so that i could go and get money out at another atm and return to buy overpriced beers to guzzle in the atmosphere-less beer garden that reminds me of the common-area in my college dorm

because bands really don't sound that great there (the sound of most bands is completely swallowed up and is especially drowned out if you're high on the balcony) [/b]
the staff of anyplace can be rude.  especially if one deserves it.

you obviously been to the wrong shows at dar, because we all stand and party like there is no tommorrow at the shows we go to.  we don't need no education.

and quit sitting so high up and maybe you can hear.  the same rule applies at patriot

and somehow i find i pay the equal "overpriced" amount for beer at any show i go to at any event.  solution:  drink water . . . or get fucked up before the show.  yee hah.

too classy???  that's a good one.  i guess you enjoy seeing shows at the velvet or even better, the armory.

and smoking will kill you and everyone else around you that breathes your shit. [/b]
i don't smoke, but its a rock show. i like to drink beer while i watch music, i really don't think that's a big deal. it seems silly to me to go see sonic youth/wilco and feel underdressed in a tshirt and jeans

So are you saying they don't have rock shows in NYC or California anymore?

Or does not being surrounded by smokers destroy your concert going experience?

that's one way of saying it. another way would be that without those beer sales, these venues wouldn't make money/exist, and you wouldn't be able to see any bands.

I heard you can buy wholesale 12 packs of Sam Adams for $5 if you're a beer distributor. Spending money on beer at Giant is simply stupid, isn't it?

I also heard that Sam Adams fucking blows.

hopefully the parking will be as nice as this weaving cosmic string has become, floating through the dark matter.

i love concerts for the sublime fact, that you have this relatively simple production, that takes up two to three hours of our lives, and then it's over; go home.  but yet the actual process of going, getting ready, planning, thinking about it, ordering tickets, bitching, is something to rant or praise on about as long as we can remember the event.
