Metallica? Ugh. I'd prefer Elton John.

fine, i'll spill

first off, Elton John rules

second of all, i heard they were waiting to get Metallica, who is not available the first week of August but if would commit to a different weekend that month or next, they would move the festival to accomodate.

 (cue Seth dismissing this rumour)

also, remember that headliners were announced April 1st last year.

Eugh, Metallica? Next thing it'll be sponsored by DC101 and the line-up will look something like this:

Metallica
Puddle of Mudd
Staind
Pearl Jam
Stone Temple Pilots
Saliva
Buckcherry
Dave Matthews Band
Staind again
and then probably Puddle Of Mudd.

And The Ting Tings.

I think Metallica has been a rumor every year

it did come from someone who works at a record label, though, not from a blogger or some hipster kid.
but i am quite sure its untrue, as the way it was told to me, it was only being moved back a week or two. but with the Merriweather shows, that doesnt seem likely.

   paging Franz Ferdinand...

If it were Sir Paul McCartney, Seth could probably sell lots of VIP tickets to the show.... Don't know what Paul's show is like these days, but he put on a tremendous show in 2001.  His new band energized him,  supported by great visuals and then there were the songs...

how about I would be excited if Metallica, Paul Mccartney, Elton John or all the above were involved? Seriously I just want a definite Yes or No wether it is happenein this year. and if so, are we talking AFTER the first week of August? Is that too much to ask?

The way things are going I almost feel like I may be forced into going to a different lame local 'festival' type thing put on by a local crap radio station in May that only has 1 band I like just to get my 'summer fest' fix. I am liking some of the bands that Warped Tour are offering but the last one I went to at Merriweather was so crowded I was feeling extremely claustrophobic. Wish it would go back to Nissan.

you forgot nickelback.  they're the grunge band for the non indie generation, who love vip sections with free finger food and cheap wine in a plastic cups.
