HockeyBuzz, ironically, just had a contest/vote based around the AOvsSid debate. 66% said they'd rather build their team around AO. Good debate on both sides:

 Personally, while Ovechkin is the better pure goal scorer (and possibly the best in the league at this point in that capacity), AO doesn't make other people better, whereas Sid seems much more cerebral and his assist numbers are generally higher. I'd take Crosby personally.

I'm too bias. Although it seems to have decreased, I can't stand it when Crosby whines to refs. If I owned a team I'd much rather watch Ovie than Crosby.
 
 What's kinda sad is the way Iginla is overlooked in the US. If he was on the Rangers he would be getting a lot more press that would help with diversity in the NHL.

You know, I agree with on who I'd take of the two, but you look like an idiot when you cite a statistic like that as proof one guy is better then another. The significantly better TEAM Sid the Kid plays on probably has something to do with his TEAM having a better record then AO's TEAM.

You CAN NOT discount that head-to-head result. It's probably more reliable to see how they compare on the ice together than what they do against other changing variables. It's what any scientist would do. Not only have the Pens won more - but Sid has been better. (your comparison above is daft. We are talking about the 2 best players specifically. Using your argument I'd have to agree that Ruutu is also better than Ovechkin   :roll:  )
 
 They were both on fairly comparable teams when Sid & Alex entered the league. Pitt has improved. Wash - not so much. Why? One big reason below:
