Gorillaz w/ Gruff Rhys and De La Soul - Superfast Jellyfish

I like this song a lot. With this and Stylo, Plastic Beach is looking pretty interesting so far.

It sounded to me like they were trying to pull off their own Screamadelica. And like you said, hit-or-miss.

The new Brian Jonestown Massacre is out. Has a pretty weird vibe to it. It was recorded in Berlin and Iceland, which shows in the album imho. The tracks on it that are good, are fucking good, but there are some songs that I can't stand. It's alot dancier too.

"Let's go fucking metal" is so awesome. One of my favorite songs of the year.

..thats actually a really good way to put it.

Maybe it will grow on me, but a fair amount of it isn't the BJM that I know and love.

Still going to catch the show at the club though. Definitely.

I love BJM and that review is probably accurate (I haven't heard the album yet) and crushes any expecation of another ...and this is our music or Strung Out in Heaven style album. I read somewhere that Anton said of My Blood Underground and I'm paraphrasing, play these tunes and lets record and then you never have to play them again. So it basically seemed like listening to at a jam session or anton's home recordings. It sounds like this album is going to be along those lines too.

Any good? I have an itunes gift card. I'm saving it for this album and maybe Beat the Devils Tattoo.

Pulling down the new Drive By Truckers at the moment, going to check it out during my lunchtime run.

BRMC and Autechre leaked.

BRMC now has the entire album streaming on '(their) page'. I assume that means their MySpace profile since I read the notice in their MySpace activity stream. (Didn't check yet.) If it's not there, go check their website.

Gorillaz - Plastic Beach streaming in full on NPR:  http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=124114812

Damon Albarn is my favorite living musician (not saying he's the best, just my favorite), so I am biased, but:  LOVE IT.  Has a definite White Album vibe; a beautiful, glorious, slightly schizoid pop roller coaster ride.  "On Melancholy Hill" is especially beautiful, on par with such emotional Blur gems as "This Is a Low" and "Sweet Song."

Plastic Beach is pretty great, and I've only played it once. It's really all over the place, and Damon did a great job producing it. There are some stunning tracks on there.

in case someone cares enough to give this a listen:

First Listen: Broken Bells
http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=124018401

Brian Burton, a.k.a. Danger Mouse, always seems to be working on something, but this feels different. Burton has teamed up with James Mercer, who's spent more than a decade leading his band The Shins, to form Broken Bells. As The Shins' lineup changes and the band switches to a new label, it's only natural that Mercer would want to try something new, and Broken Bells' self-titled debut feels like a fresh start.

Come on Walkies. I'd expect lame humor such as this from Rhett but you're typically held to a higher standard.

I saw on a write up of a NYC SVI/Ceremony show that Ceremony has a full length coming out this Spring.

I never thought I would say this but MGMT's Congratulations is great! They are a 100% different band now than on that overrated piece of garbage album that was their last. I don't know if it's Sonic Boom or their more psychedelic influences or a combination of both but this album is a total revamp of their sound.
