And I made a post about Franz Ferdinand like three months ago after hearing them on WOXY.  Markie, Kurosawa, Skonster and Jaguar all had the EP and thought highly of it.

So I imagine all those on this board can say that they bought the CD after hearing the band on WOXY and KEXP and after getting a tip from someone on the 9:30 board.

If I had known she was getting hype, I probably would have been contrary and avoided her ass.

I tried the Borders on L Street and the one near Pentagon City, since they had the CD listed as "in-stock" on their website. Unfortunately, neither store has a copy on hand now. So, I'm back to waiting on Olsson's.

Just checked Best Buy's site (I know, I know) and the stores in Tenleytown, Pentagon City and Potomac Yard are listed as having the album on hand.

Holy crap; they're not playing here any time soon, so I'm in no rush, but this is crazy....

 Which Borders?

Her mannerisms are really odd to me -- I mean like medical condition odd.  And her voice inflections are not pleasant at all.  She sounds like she's falling off a very high wall or having a confusion breakdown or lost in a very complex and intimidating forest and trying to communicate with the animals.

I saw her sing two songs, and it was unpleasant, entirely.

Nellie McWeirdo... (just my opinion, the write ups on her are inexplicably positive...) [/b]

Sounds like you were at a Tori Amos performance.

I did find that I liked her in-store appearance much better when I wasn't watching.

You hit it on the head -- I find Tori highly unwatchable as well - all that weird gyrating on the piano bench, like she's got a community of ants in her pants she's trying to smush while singing.  When you're not watching her, she's okay.  Maybe Nellie's the same, but the songs seemed pretty simplistic to me...(then again, I was distracted by the thought that her eyes might roll backwards into her head at any moment...)

Yeah, but Groundskeeper Willie went to UMD, so what's his opinion really worth?

No, there is an older thread. Kurosawa was talking about them ages ago. I got the darts of pleasure EP from CD warehouse just before Christmas, if my memory serves me well. (i think I bought it on my first visit there for two years) I have been back more often since.

I don't have the powers or pollard, Rhett or dupek to find old threads...was there one on Revolution Records in particular?

Well, I went to RR yesterday looking for Ferdinand.  Got there mid-in store performance by Gist -- problem was I couldn't shop while they were playing, as I was looking for "F" franz ferdinand, "G" get up kids, and "m" mekons, two of which were up front behind the band.

Great space, really cool listening rooms with chairs, mags, lava lamps -- even a turntable for vinyl listening.  And staff (one of whom played in Gist) was super nice, friendly, helpful.  They had punch and cookies after the performance.

I asked about FF and they were out, but offered to reserve me a copy.  Then I got the whole story about how the distributor will let them have only so many copies, FF is sold out all over town, etc.  Really nice and seemingly happy to be working in a record store...

The one concern I have is that their stock isn't sufficient.  They don't seem to have many CD racks at all  - the space is cool, but almost like a living room rather than a record store. I'm sure they'll order anything you want, but...  Granted, I didn't peruse much, as I was looking for three discs in particular and had already waited around about 20 minutes for the in-store to end.

I will keep shopping there and see how it goes...
