I had NOR as my pick until I changed it this morning because I kept hearing vansmack's voice in my head saying, "you always go with the home team with the biggest spread."

I have never been a Jets fan in my life, but . . . J E T S JETS JETS JETS!

Not me. Distributing $1.87 or whatever it is to everyone does not excite me.

Go Pats.

since everyone got eliminated in the $100, should we start another pool and continue on?  essentially give everyone a mulligan?

it's either that, or 5 people split $300 plus get their money back (i.e. get ~$160 each).

I had the Pats knowing you couldn't use them but decided to avoid the divisional game...

What do we do with Seth, Venerable and eros in that scenario?

to my mind, in the mulligan scenario those who were previously out remain out.  they lost their bets prior to today's clusterf*ck, so that doesn't change.

I don't think that is fair to the other three.  Although we lasted longer than they did, we all met the same result.  It's probably fairer to distribute the money, and anyone who wants back in has to pay again.  Also, with a new league, how would previously picked teams be treated?  It could get messy unless Yahoo has the ability for the league moderator to go in and eliminate teams from each respective team's picks (and I am sure the moderator would be thrilled to do that . . . )

This is completely false.  There's  a big difference between week one and week three, let alone week five.

If anything, I'm willing to consider letting anyone who lost before week 4 to buy back in, but I'm not willing to wipe out their debt all together.

i understand your point of view, but i don't agree with it.  survival pools are all about lasting as long as possible, so you can't ignore the time dimension.  being bounced out in week 5 isn't the same as being bounced out in week 4... or week 1.

here's my analogy: you win the quarter-finals, but tie in the semi-finals.  it is decided that the teams in the semis should re-play to choose a winner.  do the quarter-finals losers get to play again?  no, they've already been eliminated.

I see two options. Either settle up the old $100 pool and start a new one. Or the final five let it roll. The latter would obviously exclude the 3 who went out prior to this week.

I would do double or nothing on the big boys* pool, assuming vansmack and seth are on board.

Thanks a lot, Eagles. I decide to be ballsy and go with a road 1-3 team and they choke.

I should've stuck with my Bengals. :)

there's only one option in the $100 league - everyone who got bounced today splits the pool ... if all of us or some of us make a subsequent agreement to let it ride and start a new pool, then so be it
