RNR Hotel blows for music...horrible.. I have avoided the place all these years and doubt I'll go again for music...the upstairs is fine but the live music room sucks.
I really want another venue to scoop in and grab Great Lake Swimmers from playing there. I would go, but all you have said about this place, just can't do it.
That place is HORRIBLE.  Will never go there again.

I am going to The Clean but only because it is The Clean.
One of maybe five bands that would get me there.

How was Wild Flag? I was sorry I missed it. Then someone said they heard it was ...boring?

I knew that didn't sound right and questioned what they heard. Argh, is all I can say. They seem so fun. Well, I can only hope they'll come back in the fall.

Really good. Afternoon Penis was kind of boring but played for like 15 minutes. Lexie MTN and some other girl played a nice meditative drony set that I was digging. 200 Years was pretty much what you would expect if you had heard the album. Folky, pretty, atmospheric. Horse Lords surprised me. I had no idea about what to expect and they ended up being the highlight of the night. Essentially what every jamband should aspire to be.

It was a little odd being at a house show and not knowing anyone but the friend I came with

I feel the same way about Father John Misty.  But I think I may go.

I really wish The Roots didn't drop out of that.

Cardinal set was really good with some quality funny Richard banter. Nice mix of old and new material. The new album is pretty good but seems to have slipped passed most radars.

Cigarette get more impressive each time I see them. There is a band I thought would be getting more buzz around these parts by now. Fans of Besnard Lakes and Grizzly Bear would find a lot to like in them, I think.

KRE were also solid. Cool to hear them play fully formed songs. Well not fully formed but more concrete pieces than usual.

The show also had a decent draw for Velvet on a Tuesday.

i will now spend the rest of the weekend flogging myself for not paying attention to concert listing.. That first Cardinal record is one of my all time favorite records. I  thought they never toured, let alone released a new record.

Eric Matthews was not there if that makes you feel better.
The strings and horns were all sampled which took away a little but I knew that going in. It was still a fantastic way to spend $12.
