No truth to that tale... I did go to the English Beat/Squeeze show and it was fantastic
sound was a little off during the beat, but great set list
Squeeze was fun as shit and with the exception of the new songs, they sounded great
Somehow got right up front in between sets...easy to move around as a single
Didn't see challenged, but he had to be close
Was a pretty old/white crowd, that didn't really dance too much
...have to imagine fair amount of Drumpf supporters with that profile
Spotted Seth rockin' out up in the VIP balcony too
I didn't stick around to the very end (left halfway through 'take me' at the end)
but I read the band had the show available for purchase at the merch table and they were signing them too
Sidehatch - We came into the club a few minutes into the Beat's set, and I saw you heading the other way and yelled your IRL name to no avail. We then stood around 7-10 people back from stage right the whole night. Stayed to the end, loved the show, thought some of the new songs were decent, but the old songs are just so classic that the new ones cannot stand up to them.
They throw in two covers every night: Easybeats, and Tom Waits. I liked, but would have maybe liked a couple more of their own songs better?
Merch was plentiful, almost bought a $5 Squeeze "Stress Ball." But successfully avoided purchasing anything.
Began the night at Seth Meyers taping at the Warner. That was a lot of fun. And Mary Timony is in the 8G Band, which is cool.
Ate at Tasty Burger around the corner on 8th. Slow slow service, but good (Tasty) veggie burger and regular burger for my buddy.
So, from here its Nats Thursday night until midnight, and then Teenage Fanclub on Friday night. Solo for that show: can/should there be an official meet up?
