Clem Snide...have not heard that name in awhile

Planned to see Tobin Sprout but I double booked (comedy with friends)...I heard he did a couple of GBV songs.

last min decided to get over to Jammin Java to catch Clem Snide with my kid
got there a little late, no opener ...only played for 75 mins with a lot of banter
there were only 30 mostly masked patrons (wonder if the vid kept a lot home too), so I can understand why not playing a long show...
Only him and a dobro player
sounded very sweet and mellow, he's just got the perfect voice IMO.  I could listen to him read the menu

Was nice to get out, but feeling like this is the beginning of the end of indoor shows
kinda reminded me of that Pougeatry show I saw on march 11th

I didn’t make it to Tobin Sprout either…I just couldn’t get excited about it

I did make it out to see my friends band at some restaurant in Glover Park

Playing during August in DC can be tough

Not too many people… kind of got that Clem Snide vibe

I guess I always thought when I went to my first show back we would have this covid thing licked but since we don’t there isn’t that feeling of we licked this thing… so I just didn’t feel all exuberant

I was pretty hungover the next day…am out of shape

Next up for me I think is Julien Baker at the club…

I think they drain the adrenaline there, but the eating was always done at Comet Ping Pong

I wanted to go but was extremely out of juice... setlist looked like nothing I knew minus a few tunes so it softened the blow.

I did.....probably the best I've seen them and the Anthem sound is surprisingly great.
Lots of older material....don't think I've seen them as a six piece.  They were two songs that Isaac played with a banjo.
Fun times.
Majority of the people wore masks.

Btw, I had an extra free ticket that none of my friends wanted....I should have offered it here!

After being burnt to a crisp on Wilco from 2002 to 2011 a good decade break of seeing them* was just what the doctor ordered.

I kind of forgot what a great band they were and they put on a solid 90 minute set on a gorgeous evening at MPP. Played the hits and sprinkled in a few newer tunes I enjoyed.  Reports were supposedly only 4k or so people there and I think I saw 10 masks. The crowd is/was as lame as they were a decade ago with 75% of the crowd keeping their pear shaped bodies snug tightly in their seats all night.

It was great to be back at MPP and the renovations were nice.

*I have seen Tweedy and Jeff Tweedy solo in the past decade.

To quote my wife's screaming reply to your Wilco review:

"It's a Wilco show, you asshole. People are supposed to be seated. You don't dance to Wilco. Do you want to see a bunch of pear shaped people dancing?"

Ironically, my biggest complaint about their seated Anthem show was there were too many pears standing and the three of us couldn't see from our seats.

Glad you enjoyed though and keep the reviews coming.

Im currently entering a Wilco hiatus myself until they put out some new music that isn't boring af. Though a better co-headliner or opener for Wilco might get me off my pear and into a seat.

Did they require proof of vaccine?

well, you definitely don't mosh to it, but I think it's very good swaying from foot to foot and bobbing your head music
I rarely like sitting down to see live rock music. Call me crazy

What exactly do you do when nels goes in to a 10 minute noise jam...you don't ride the light fantastic with him?

.

One of my few true talents is that I can bob my head while seated.

I should add that she will be swaying with me at the Durand Jones show, and doing whatever you do at a Kesha show with my daughter......but what is the point of the seats if not for sitting in them? Especially at the Anthem show, where they actually spent the time to set them up.
